As has been stated - check out russ' 3hell site.

Personally I've not had a problem with my 3 phone so far with making receiving calls - but I'm not in a proper 3 area so in effect I'm really using an O2 phone.

If I was you I'd check coverage in your area tho.

As for using another sim card in it - I have no idea to be honest - I'd guess it'd be locked like a normal phone - maybe you could get it unlocked?

OK we live in luton ...... my flat mate just sold his 3 phone, it used to cut out for no reason with full signal, the quality was ****e... the phones are huge....and no the nec at least was not backwards compatible.....all in all i would stay well away from 3 untill they get it sorted out.

i think they own most of 3 yes....not sure about orange though....i know 3g almost caused BT to go bellyup though which is why they started splitting everything into subcompanys a few years back

Very interesting, especially with the recent claim by 3 that other PAYG companies are ripping consumers off.

I've got a Nokia 6650, it's duel band (which really means it's either GSM or GSM&3G) on Voda, which haven't rolled out 3G yet
Battery life and the phone overall are great.
It doesn't do video calls, but I don't need that.

I was going to go with 3, but at the moment I'm not too impressed with any of the handsets they are providing. I think I'll soldier on until some of the others enter the arena and see what the handsets are like then.
