around 50,000 machines have been infected with a worm spreading through ICQ.

'bizex' as it is known as , asks users to click on a link 'jokeworld.biz' once the link has been clicked on the worm infects the users machine through ICQ and internet explorer vunerabilities, it will then hijack the users 'contacts' list and spread itself by instant messaging all contacts.....

the worm will also install a keylogger, and will harvest information on the following payment systems on an infected machine, and send the details to an anonymous webserver......

payment systems:

Wells Fargo, American Express UK, Lloyds, Barclaycard, Credit Lyonnais, and E*TRADE.

Perhaps that's when they wrote it? It just took a few days to take off?

Just been to my norton update. So feel reasonably secure. :( Seems there is another virus or worm every day now. :shocking:

I gave up on ICQ years ago.. Its to insecure IMO.....

You only have to look at the vast aray of hacks and expliots on the net for it !!

i have never used it, i just gave a heads up to people who may use it :)

Not used it for ages, msn is far better and we even use it at work :)

Hi Stuartbe,

but you have used it ... yes ?

I am trying to use mine now.
I have the number of the user i want to contact,
I've emailed him my number.

I can't figure out where to enter the number into my ICQ.
I fell a bit dumb, and ive tried all the bits i can find,
What am i doing wrong ?
