I use one of the USB Ports for my Eye Toy.

yep, I can see the sense in that, but what can the firewire do?

is it for networking? i'm intrigued

yes the i.link is for linking 2 or more ps2 together to play multiplayer (on compatable games)

the newer versions of the ps2 has no i.link port...but most new games will use the network adaptor for online multiplayer or LAN games

you can use the USB ports for the eye toy..the headset for games like socom...a USB keyboard (for everquest etc). you can even use a USB-ethernet adaptor (linksys USB100TX) to play (OLDER) network games like socom, tony hawks etc...the newer games require you to use the Sony network adaptor

hope that helps

You can still get the firewire cable from PC stores as a lot of products that use firewire share the same connection.

'iLink' is just Sony's lame attempt to push its own name on the IEEE1394 standard. The rest of the universe calls it 'Firewire', and you can buy cables everywhere.

Normal firewire cable will connect the two machines together, yes. What you can do with the machines once connected, I have no idea. I've never tried it!

when connecting PS2 together you will also need 2 PS2's (obviously) 2 TV's 2 copies of the game, this will now enable you to play 2 player with out the annoying split screens, good for games such as Age of Empiers
