Hi guys

The other month I posted a message asking for assistance on the progress of my account cancellation, and Mark B was good enough to help. Since then, my TV and cable have been cancelled, but my phone line still remains active.

I've sent three letters now, and settled all payment as regards the line. I've also called CS 4 or 5 times to ask they cut it off, but to no avail. Last time I tried (last Friday I think) I was put on hold and transferred to the Home Movers department in Newcastle, and answered by a helpful (but ultimately powerless) lady, who put a note on my account for it to be cancelled, as this was all she could do. What I want to know is, how long will this take? I sent my first letter in November, and still I've had no luck, and the line is still active. Can anyone help me??

That it just absurb.

I think your region falls under the NW business unit, if someone can confirm that for me, I willl get you a contact that will sort it for you.

I think that's right, NW region certainly rings a bell.

Of course, I'm no authority on it.

First of all, make sure that you do not use the phone - if possible, unplug and / or disable it.

If you haven't already done so, confirm the cancellation whereby you know that they receive the confirmation, eg. fax, recorded delivery, etc. Keep a copy.

If you have been paying your account by Direct Debit, cancel that, and send a copy of the cancellation notice to NTL reminding them that you have closed the account.

It is not unusual for NTL to continue to bill people after their account is closed. Let's wait and see about this one.

Thanks MC. I'd like to send them one more letter, which I'll send special delivery. Is there a specific address to write to for the Stafford region (I don't live in Stafford anymore), or should it go to the Swansea address (which I might add, I have sent three letters to already).

Apparently my region isn't North West. Is it the Coventry region instead? All I'm looking for is the CS address for my region to send another letter to.

They cancelled it! At long last, it's finally been disconnected! All it took was a final threatening letter.

Thanks to all who provided help with this, it's much appreciated.

Just a comment - I don't think it's appropriate to post the contact details of the mds on an open forum....whilst I know most members here are not complete basket cases, imo there are a couple that would use the info in a 'non constructive' way... :erm:

I give contact details out to those that need them, but only via pm....

I see your point Orangebird - BUT - The md's details ate on loads of threads. Maybe they will take action if lots of users contact them... ????

I do think that md's should be contacted as a last resort though !
