I have been checking out the prices from NTL and I have compared them with their competitors prices. I looked at their phone service and I noticed that with BT you can get a phone service for just £11.00 that includes caller display and itemised billing. (Evening and weekend calls at just 5.5p an hour)

Yet NTL charge you £15.25, and to brake it down for you £12.50 is line rental for there Talk Weekends tariff, £1.75 for the caller display and finally £1.00 for itemised billing.

Are NTL really that more expensive these days?

line rental with the talk weekend package is £11.00 and to be fair you have to compare all the features not just some, e.g annonomous caller reject, free with ntl chargable with BT.
also bear in mind ntl's telco prices are coming down in october

Not according to www.ntl.co.uk (http://www.ntl.co.uk)

If you proceed to order it clearly say's £12.50

Even at that price, it works out at £13.75 a month compared to BT's £11.00 a month. Let's not forget that from october it seems NTL are changing their charges on their calls too, I don't think that free TV offer looks to good after all!

And does everyone need caller ID and itemised billing on top of there line rental?

The difference of £1.50 is the charge for proceeding to order ;) its an " order " charge.
