Hi all,

With the death of our answerphone I decided to get the free 1571 service enabled. The CS rep was very helpful and I was told to dial 1571 to activate initially and then 1571 when I need to access.

I've tried this evening and it's asked me for a 4 digit password. I tried 1111 which didn't work so rang CS again. After waiting 15 minutes I'm told to use 0000 and then use my phone number when it asks for the messagebox number.

This didn't work and I cannot bear to waste another 15 minutes. Can anyone here shed any light?

Thanks for the welcome Zeph. I've been an occasional browser for sometime now, but this is my first (second now :) ) post.

I used 150 to get through, but wasn't sure if it was free. Thanks for the clarification.

mmm The free vms if I remember rightly doesn't need a 4 digit code as it's a very basic service that can only be used from your home line. It should give you a welcome message and then say it's been activated. Whereabouts in the country are you?

There is a problem with your voicemail set up here, you will need to call faults who will escalate this to their back office dept, they will then remove and re create the voicemail,it can take up to 48 hours from the time you report it to get this fixed.

I have exactly the same problem. I hate waiting for NTL to answer the phone tho and whats with the lack of 24/7 support?

EDIT: Yay another default pin is the last 4 digits of your number. Worked for me :D

24/7 is very expensive, but there will be changes in opening hours soon.

As for this problem, it IS a problem with the way that voicemail is configured. Typically, you will be asked for a message box number when the message box is missing.

It will need to be reported to the faults department on 151 and staged to their 2nd line.

Voicemail platform is an easy one. Give faults a call get it added on.

Takes about 5 minutes.

Hi Bod, I had the same problem...the default PIN number for voicemail is the last four digits of your 'phone number.....It took 5 weeks for NTL to tell me this!!!

Old thread I know - but same problem

Can not get VM+ to get past pin stage - faults are looking into in.

Tried 1234 (the code given by CS) and last four digits of my number (given by faults) - but neither work.
