Do you think the lottery is a con??? I do, how does he know what number balls came out 2 years ago??? No computer is that fast, I was watching the show a few weeks ago and number 27 came out and straight away he said such and such in London got £27, 000 for a grant:eek:    I'll say it again no computer is that fast. It's all one big fix. Camelot know where the winners are before the draw is made.

Well its a mugs game but its not really a con since people know the odds when they pay for a ticket, 14 million to one of getting 6 numbers. Its also hardly fixed. Why would they need to fix it ? its already just about impossible to win and to try and fix things would mess up the odds calculations that they work from to balance the books.

The bloke who says all those things, just has a big list of things to say whatever number comes out. Each week the stats are updated with how many times a ball comes out, and with an interesting fact he can spout out should it come out. Its abit like the footie commentator, just with numbers :)

Some folk take conspiracy theories abit too far :)

I had the same thought as you and I was curious as to how the announcer could so quickly come up with statistics is he sitting in front of a pc? who knows, I find the whole show dreadful anyway entertainment hasn't moved on much from the days when Nero sacrificed Chistians in Roman games. The way the lottery is run should be opened up more to public scrutiny.

The biggest disaster was Camelot getting to run it again. I'm sure Richard would have done a better job.

The statistics is easy!

They pre-print 49 statistics (i'll let you guess why its that many) onto a sheet of paper, and he scans down to the number, ie 27 and reads out the words written next to it! Its only gonna come out once isn't it! then they have 3-4 whole days to work out what they're gonna replace it with!

M@

Edit: oops, hadn't read Nor's post. But basically wot he said! :P

Am I the only one who sees these online lottery syndicates for what they are? They charge 49 people £5.00 per week to do 44 lines on a Wednesday and 44 lines on a Saturday.
Now do the maths
They charge 49 x £5.00 x 52 weeks = £12,740 .00 per year
They pay out 88 x £1.00 x 52 weeks = £4,576. 00 per year
So they make £ 8,164.00 per year per syndicate.

Nice work if you can get it
What does everyone else think?

I think that's a great bump! :D

A great bump indeed.
The only reason I found them was I run a syndicate for me and some of my family and friends where we cover 28 lines twice a week. After I had filled up all the places I still had people asking me if they could become a member so I was looking for some other people to join a new syndicate. To say I was shocked when I did the maths is an understatement.
I was thinking of doing one where I don't charge any money, I just collect exactly the right amount of money to pay for the tickets and then buy the tickets, but I will take a percentage of any winnings.
That way everybody wins.
