I've got a 2000 running the main TV and BB, with a 4000 upstairs.

oh, I would have to disconnect it to do that which I'm not going to do, sorry.

Two that both do their job and crash about once every 4 months which is stable enough for me.

Perhaps a better thread would be "how reliable is your STB?"

I have to reset it

Daily
Daily it also runs BB/XBL
Weekly
Weekly it also runs BB/XBL
Monthly
Monthly it also runs BB/XBL
Quarterly
Quarterly it also runs BB/XBL
Less Frequently
Less Frequently it also runs BB/XBL

Should just be a case of literally lifting the box up and looking underneath

i reboot everyday...the result of using interactive, it works fine until you exit the interactive, then it all goes wrong.
i have broadband though the stb---1000+ type.
the 1000 box was the best, it lasted 3 years, then one day it died...it still hurts thinking about it.
4000 boxes are CRAP, i mean why make them? they just don't work!!!

You can press the up, down and blue buttons on your remote control simultaneously, choose the 'More' option and the third screen will tell you under Hardware type.

I have tried this several times now and nothing happens - I have several up/down buttons and have tried them all.

Yes it doesn't work for me either!! However in another thread (http://forum.nthellworld.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4860) it know appears that it may only work in ex C&W areas!!

My 1000 box has been keeping me warm for over 2 years, when it dies I'm going to bury it in the back garden and plant a tree to remember it by.

i'm afraid ntl will take it, and remove it's organs and transplant them into more needy boxes...

Mine's a 1000 series,labelled Cable & Wireless

not that they were much better than ntl, but they did have a £10 guaranteed credit for whenever they failed to fix faults promptly, loss of service, etc - those were the days.
