It usually happens when i am downloading a large file 200- 400 mb the download stops loading and I lose the connection. Unable to surf or email untill i have switched the power off and on and rebooted the computer.

Where abouts are you and what model of modem are you using (it should be on a sticker on the bottom of it)
Also what level of service are you on?

- I have a cable modem just broadband- uk london- windows xp pro- network setup? It's my home computer their are no other pc's linked to it I am behind a mcafee firewall but it doesn't appear to be the problem as normal browsing is fine, it just appears to be when downloading large file's. I have tried unplugging the connection cable to my pc from the modem then plugging it back in and this also seems to work to restore my connection but if begin downloading again it stops working. I am uncertain how to get a trace route working http://www.dslreports.com/quality/nil/1998778 Sorry if i missed anything-
