Hi,

I noticed just as I was leaving for work this morning, around 10 to eight) that my cable modem was dead (sync light flashing).

I see that they are meant to be doing work in the area, but it was meant to be finished by six.

Anyone else in the RG10 area lose their broadband, or is it just me?

Just came off the phone with the Helpdesk: They estimated a 10pm return today for RG10 9JY which would mean 13-14 hours of downtime.

Have a dial-up modem for picking up email but very annoyingly, NTL do not offer any easy way to have an emergency dial-up account so one can use their smtp server to send out email while bb is down.

I have a CD-ROM from NTL for dial-up knocking around: If I install it will it b*gger up my other dial-up accounts? OK I may have to post this point elsewhere.

Well, still dead at 4:30 and nothing on the service status page. :)

Any clue as to what the problem is? (Just out of interest)

Wife reports that ours in RG10 9JY is back up now. Did you try the reboot sequence (cablemodem/router and PC) ?

Ah, OK. No, I hadn't tried that. I was just trying to ping it from work.

Thanks,

The UBR has been upgraded this mourning, so if not working now something must have gone wrong

If you phone 0800 052 2000 giving the phone no. of the account holder for the faulty Broadband connection, then do a bit of menu options and wait, you get a much more accurate report (for your own postcode for instance) than the 0800 052 4315 Status line.
