Yep, absolute ********.

Browsing and downloading is fine for me. I'm on ubr2, haven't been able to play any fps games because the ping is 600ms and the loss is 15-25 (not sure if this is % or just the dropped packets /s).

Was talking on vent earlier, I dropped out and somebody near me dropped out too, thought ubr might have emptied or something and run better so I go back on css.

0 loss, 0 choke and a ping of 25.

10 minutes later, I start lossing really badly then it seems to further into a stage of ping shooting up, complete lack of data flowing in, lose connection to servers. It doesn't look to be the modem failing as there is nothing in the logs to show such and as you say others like yourself. Nedkelly said they were overloaded and were going to be worked on or something from today, but its again a really ****ty sunday :(

I don't know how ntl's routers respond to IMCP traffic but I know pings and loss while gaming is useless....I'm going to phone up on Monday. I think ntl in this area to Nottingham is dying or something.

well the traces that you've posted don't show any issues- apart from a couple of dropped packets in the last which *may* be cause for concern.

Ntl's routers act the same as 99% of routers on the net- prioritise and icmp is pretty low- generally, if one hop is high but the rest of the route is fine then it is just one router prioritising. Sporadic loss as your last traces shows though isn't a good sign.

well just to let you know you guys are not alone mine seems to be ok atm but been bad for the past few hours but in ntl`s defence ha..had three whole days of what seems to be average service for a change but hey we all know this never lasts and tonite proves the point..and Chris i hate to say this again but dont you guys think that WE know our machines and whether or not the connection is ****e again:) or do you admins think we have all nite to post complaints for the fun of it heh:)

Thats what I mean, it doesn't show any issues but it was sick the results in all games I was getting. Some traces at bad times came out looking fine but the reality was I was pinging and lossing really bad.

As I speak now, its back to normal (as in good ;) ).

I had this problem for about 3 weeks, sometimes it would cut out once a night sometimes 2 times and then last week 6 times one night and 3 times the night after.......anyway cut a long story short called out an engineer who said I should not really be using the silver cable modem box on the 10mb, apparently NTL was going to change them but then came up with a firmware fix so decided not too, however this engineer still say s a lot of people are having problems, he thwen proceeded to change mine to the little blue ones that are rated about 14mb and I have not had a single cut out since ...

So if you have a silver one go get it changed and hopefully it will solve your problem

Thanks for that, although (touch wood) I haven't had too many problems, a couple of stalled pages, but no disconnections. :)
