Has anyone on the 512k naughty useage upgraded sucessfully through customer servies or have you been fobbed off? We're paying 17.99 for 512k unlimited when 1 meg unlimited is the same price!!

Let me know as I'm riniging em tomorrow.

I believe that this is at NTLs discretion

mabye so

or depends on what CS person you get at time of ringing up, or how you tell them that you had enough and wish to cancel all Tv,Phone and BB.

Ask nicely and if you don't succeed, ring up again, and again, and again, lol

It does work!

I've just spoke to CS and they informed me that they have to pass it throught to the User Acceptance Policy team (the ones who sent out the letters) I asked if I would ever hear from them and they didnt know. I have also tried ringing the 0845 0451017 number which now does not exist!!

Rang through to Broadband TS and asked for another number and they gave me CREDIT CONTROL!! Spoke to them and she explained she would get in touh with Acceptance policy team and that they would call me back (heard that before!! ) So am now back to square one with NTL now charging me for 512k unlimited when I could be having 1meg!!

It seems to me that they were quick enough to roll out the letters about knocking you back but now not knowing what to do and what trade descriptions they are possibly breaking by not allowing us back on an advertised unlimited tarif. It even states in the letter to look out for "new unlimited packages in 2006".... well - does that mean all we can do is look??!!

If anyone has a number for the user acceptance team then please post it up if poss.

ring again, say you know others have been upgraded from 512k. Point it out to them that now they have a unlimited service they cannot forceably keep you at 512k as there is no difference as 512,1meg,2meg are all unlimited

failing that ringup to cancel all services and see what they say when they ask why, and if that happens and they let you go re-sign up in a different name (partners, ect, ect) - if you can life without BB ect, ect for a week

like i said before though, it all depends on who you get when you ring up.

Dear God that is sad.

ADSL is available to over 99% of the population. ntl can supply you anything they want you were downgraded for extracting the urine from a service you know had a cap, you aren't entitled to any services that are now unlimited and if retentions (it's bloody always them) are stupid enough to ignore the notes on your account saying that you shouldn't be returned to normal services, as I think happened in your case Mr mcmanic when you got through to Mr McCommission who wanted the cash for 'keeping' you, then you've hit jackpot.

NTL retentions really are a totally @rse about face department to be fair. You have salesmen who want to shaft you by any means necessary to get you to sign up, then retentions who want to shaft ntl by any means necessary to get you to stay signed up, in both cases due to them getting cash for doing it.

But phoning up over and over again?

Rather than wasting time on several phone calls crying, begging for forgiveness, saying how the neighbour's dog was allowed back up to 1Mbit or 2Mbit just go elsewhere, pathetic dude.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com where you can find likeminded people and maybe save a few pence on a tin of beans. You might even find a broadband deal with an ISP that doesn't mind you not paying much but downloading enough porn to give yourself severe callouses every day :)

Well you can't accuse Ignition of bias - that last post probably offends everyone in one hit. Nice to see a bit of life on here!

Brilliant, keep it up Ignition :)

lol, just for Ignition benfit - i've never been downgraded to 512k - i'm a 10meg user. I was clearly stating of what i know has happened with a few people who HAVE been downgraded because they have abused the service and are now back on 1 or 2 meg unlimited by being persistant and phoning more than once.

I was on 300k but got upgraded to 1meg after I phoned in about something or other. The agent suggested it to me. I am paying £9.99 for it for a year due to the diabolical way my bill was b*llsed up and I threatened to leave on a number of occasions. The bill is still not right, but it's better than it was :(

Same here. If necessary I'm going to argue that I could upgrade to 2mb unlimited and then shortly after that go down to 1mb unlimited. So they might as well do it all in one step.
