Is your ip address changing after loosing the connection?

Aye, i've been having EXACTLY the same problems since around 1am on Monday morning. Basically, my speed is fine (very fast at the advertised speed) BUT my modem keeps dropping from a timeframe of every few minutes to hours. This is EXTREMELY irritating especially when playing online games such as WoW. All the lights will go out bar the power light and the SYNC light flashes.

I'm glad i'm not the only one.

Also, unlike alot of people i have the ntl: 250 modem and yet is sitll suffer from these problems. Anyone else with the same model of modem who is suffering the same problems?

If your ip address is changing check the following.

If your using a router, disconnect it and connect modem to pc direct and see if the problem stops.

If your connecting direct to pc already then it could be a firewall denying dhcp requests from the server.

A call to tech support can confirm this tho.

Ricyg01 Put in 192.168.100.1 and can you post the results .We need to know upstream power level downstream power level and the snr .this will let us see if there is a problem with the modem or signal hope this helps:tu:

I'm having this problem too, just posted in the 10Mb is crap thread
I'm having a problem on the 10Mb service. My speed is fine - irish speed test says I'm getting 9.55Mb down, 530kbps upstream :)

The problem is the stability, it just keeps knocking out. Playing PGR3 tonight it dropped out during my first race, and then again when I managed to get back into the lobby. Even whilst writing this post I notice it dropped again

I spoke to ntl about an hour ago, according to them my cable line is over-utilised so they'll escalate the problem to the faults department. Apparently it'll be fixed in the next couple of days, but who knows.

Meanwhile, my new cable morning from yesterday morning appears to have registered quite a few faults:
