this has been a serious time waster over the last two days

i don't know why it's so addictive because the actual game is fairly simple and repetitive.
a few tips for those who get into it:
whichever car you buy at the beginning.. keep in mind that the biggest performance increase will come from getting the overall weight of the car down.. so, buy the weight stages as well as other upgrades.
the tuning section is in the toolbox.. if you have a powerful and light car.. you will want to keep the lower gears fairly high... experiment in the test area to find your sweet spot.. and keep coming back to it when your car or modifications change.
concentrate on the "stock" races to begin with... and move up to "ricer" once you begin to beat most cars by at least 50m.
once you have a fairly nice car and modded it.. you should be able to get through most of the early "story" levels.. they give you lots of easy money.
