Does NTL offer any newsgroup access?
I pay for an unlimited newshosting account (8 connections), but was hoping to top it up if NTL offer anything.
If they do, what is the server and login requirements?
Thanx.

but don't expect much - server hangs alot and there are very few of the heavy use binary newsgroups (alt.binaries.multimedia, alt.binaries.tv all of the DVD ones - these are not covered)

Whilst I agree that a lot of the very big groups aren't on NTL's servers they still have a very good newsgroup service comapared to most ISPs. I use NTL and Easynews together and probably download 50-100Gb/month and manage to get almost everything I want.

I've just been using the NTL ones so far and have been pleasantly surprised. I get ultra-fast download speeds (maxes out my 2 meg connection).

Is easynews good? Do they carry all binaries? Whats the transfer speeds like on NTL?

Thanks

KiN242Easynews carry all the binary groups. It's $9.98 (less than £6) for 20GB/month (and you can answer a 30 second survey every week for an extra 0.5Gb each time). Gigs also roll over if unused.

They have speed issues on NNTP at the moment, particularly with NTL users it appears, but it isn't really a problem as you can download straight from their website at full speed, which also has a global search function. Their retention on the website is about 30-40 days and they are bringing NNTP retention to similar levels. Completion is superb and I would definitely recommend them.
