All the information I have seen, including threads on here, state BY 10meg connection has an upstream of 384k.

My friend in Scotland insists he has a letter from BY advising his 10meg line has an upstream of 512k. I know he's definitely on BY (and not NTL) but I don't believe him (funny that he can't find the letter to scan).

Does anyone know of any evidence to support his claim?

I would think he is probably telling the truth to be honest,as at good times I get 130k from my 1 meg broadband,so if he is 10 times faster than me then its quite possible isnt it? bear in mind I dont always get that, it depends on so many things at the time ..... Im on Blueyonder too ...

taken from BY's website

blueyonder broadband elite - 2Mb and 4Mb become an amazing 10Mb
Our elite services with speeds of either 2Mb or 4Mb will both be increased, to up to 10Mb.
The broadband elite- 2Mb service will also benefit from an increase in upstream speed to up to 384k.

so it looks like 384 is the max by do.

Yeh - I know that... I have already done the research and my post also states All the information I have seen, including threads on here, state BY 10meg connection has an upstream of 384k.

I'm asking for evidence to the contrary or some kind of proof that there is an upstream GREATER than the advertised/publicised 384k which I already have.

The latest information on that thread is from July 2005 and talks about possibilities not actuals. My friend is a BY residential customer - in theory on the same package as me (altho I'm still waiting my upgrade to 10meg). I see no evidence anywhere (except speculation and hope) that BY have any plans to increase upload from the current stated 384k.

Can't he simply check his modem config file ?

Probably, but he tells me he has a letter from BY which tells him he has 512k upstream.... and I think he's lying cos I can't find any proof that BY even have plans to increase upload, let alone already rolled it out.

Check out the capacity problems that BY are having on upstreams with them as they are right now, in some places people have connections that are virtually unusable.

Have heard nothing from BY about increasing upstreams for 10Mbit.

I have just been upgraded to the 10Mb and i can confirm that the upload didn't change, its still 384k
