View Full Version : Cannot connect to cpanel and email

Malboro

I am having quite an unusual problem. It seems I cannot connect to the cpanel for my website, there are 2 errors while doing this, they appear to be fairly random (connection refused, connection timout) I can access cpanels for other sites, the other problem is that I cannot access my email or ftp for this one site (and the others on the reseller package) I know it is not my site as I can connect through other computers.

Site = www.360generation.com/cpanel

I have also tried :2082 by still doesn't work. The modem has been reset and I have reset web settings and it still fails. It was working fine a couple of days ago. Then it just died.

Works fine here.

Graham M
02-01-2006, 00:30
Working fine here too. And it wont be a proxy issue as it isn't port 80

Malboro
02-01-2006, 00:31
Yes, It works fine on other computers, this is the only site I have trouble connecting to via mine, which is a shame since I own it.

Paul
02-01-2006, 00:33
Have you tried a tracert to it ?

Malboro
02-01-2006, 00:34

This has happened to me also, I found that I was blocked at the server firewall for getting password wrong a few times.

I have been told I have not been blocked :s I am going to ask again. They seem reluctant to help me now that it is not a problem on their part (which is understandable) I cannot access any cpanel on their servers :s but I can access the websites which is strange.

The problem is at the remote end as the traces clearly show ;

13 107 ms 107 ms 118 ms pos7-0.gw9.chi2.alter.net [152.63.69.165]
14 116 ms 115 ms 115 ms liquidweboc12-gw.customer.alter.net [65.207.234.198]
15 lw-core1-ge2.rtr.liquidweb.com [209.59.157.30] reports: Destination net unreachable.

That appears to be a routing/connectivity issue within liquidweb.com.

Malboro

Paul
02-01-2006, 15:45
So would this mean I have been blocked? It means that router could not forward the packets on - I could not tell you why as it would only be speculation - only the people who run it could say what the problem is.

can't you get at your mail via POP, rather than through cPanel?

Malboro

Nope.

POP, cpanel and FTP are down (sucks for me)

Nope.

POP, cpanel and FTP are down (sucks for me)You have no route to the server so you won't be able to (directly) connect to any service on it.

Malboro

You have no route to the server so you won't be able to (directly) connect to any service on it.

I see you mention "directly" does this mean there would be a way to indirectly connect?

---------- Post added at 16:37 ---------- Previous post was at 16:17 ----------

I have got round the route problem. I am now using something called cpanel proxy which does something, now I can access webmail and cpanel via a subdomain.

Paul
02-01-2006, 16:39
I see you mention "directly" does this mean there would be a way to indirectly connect? If you use ntl's webmail it has the ability to connect to other pop3 accounts and read the mail. I believe other webmail systems also allow this.

very strange then :erm: not sure what to suggest really

i suppose you could try routing via the tor network to try an indirect connection (http://tor.eff.org) but im not sure id trust putting login information though a public proxy network though. :erm:

Neither of those can cause the trace he posted. It looks like an ntl issue - the router at 62.253.188.154 does not appear to know where next to send the packets, or it is dropping them for some reason, or the route it is using is broken.
