BT and ntl have been given a hiding in a survey into home phone customer satisfaction.

One in four ntl customers and one in five BT customers said they were not satisfied with the service they received, a YouGov survey found. It conducted the research on behalf of independent comparison service uSwitch.com.

The customer satisfaction survey assessed the quality of service provided by the UK’s biggest home phone providers.

Not just service

The least satisfied customers when it came to value for money were BT’s (56% satisfied), followed by ntl (63%) and Telewest (68%). With 90% of its customers saying they believed the service represented good value for money, TalkTalk led the way, followed by Tiscali (84%), Onetel (81%), Sky Talk (81%) andTele2 (80%).

Other findings

92% of TalkTalk customers were satisfied with their provider, followed by Tiscali (89%), Sky Talk (88%) and Onetel (87%).
Telewest ranked highest for customer service, with 70% of their customers saying they were happy with their provider.
More than half of both Tele2 and ntl customers were not satisfied with the customer service they received.
92% of TalkTalk customers would recommend their service to a friend, but 1 in 3 ntl customers and almost 1 in 4 BT customers
wouldn’t.
