BT is set to rollout 1mbit with 50 providers already signed up, the service will be launched in november although it will depend on how far your home is from the local exchange

Sure... well... not /yet/ anyway... Thing is, it's cheaper to upgrade the substations to allow IP traffic over power lines than it would to upgrade a BT exchange for ADSL - plus it does not require as many customers in the catchment area to actually warrant it. It seems to have initially been trialled in remote areas of Scotland, where ADSL simply isn't possible. They're trying it in a city now to see whether it catches on and if there is a market for it... I'm sure the results will be positive and that they'll increase the availability across the UK before long... just have to wait and see.

I'm with Pipex and currently using their 1 meg service (which is obviously supplied by BT) and getting a steady 128 kilobyte/s download speed. All for the princely sum of £34.99 a month ..
