following on from last time:-

www.cableforum.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=35103&highlight=orange

Orange now also offer the following extras:-

150 text messages to use within a week for £5

60 mins of calls to any network to use within a week for £5

120 mins of evening/weekend calls to any network to use within a week for £5

(I'm not sure how the week works - whether it's 7 days from the day you ask for it or what?)

so for £5*4.3 = £21.50 a month you can have 60 mins of calls to any network any time each week!

Next - Orange offer free calls to other orange users in the evenings (for the next 5 years) provided you top up by at least £10 a month! evenings is 7pm until midnight and I assume that means 7 days a week. To subscribe to this deal you text evening to 1133 or ring customer services. also see the Orange store magazine. the way it works is, if you dont top up by the £10 or more in a month then the following month you wont get your free calls.

(check the terms and conditions yourself before subscribing)

and there's more!

10 mins video calling on pay as you go to £5 (to be used within a week)

and the next thing is bizarre:-

the new technology "push to talk" which they call 'talk now'
http://www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?pagename=OUKPersonal&c=OUKService&t=Service&cid=1092743838062&tab=2

20p for a 30 minute session on pay as you go or a min of 15p per min for pay monthly customers! :Yikes:

Evidence Orange are favouring PAYG customers more than pay monthly?

next... 15 mins of calls to any network to be used by midnight of the day you order it - £1.

more evidence Orange screw monthly customers -

monthly text packs:-

pay as you go 150 texts for £8 - pay monthly 120 for £8
pay as you go 400 texts for £12 - pay monthly 360 for £24

I'm on Orange and every month i put £15 on my phone..
this automatically gives me 3000 free evening and weekend texts.

With the £15 i buy a text extra for £8 which gives me my months daytime texts. (150 texts).

Then i buy an Orange World Extra for £4 which gives me £16 of WAP access to use within the month.

I don't call much as my phone is a bit broken :( so the other £3 is used on that or pic messages which suits me just fine!

and heres more...

1 day on orange world (umlimited) - £1

10 photo messages to use in a week - £2

unlimited orange/landline calls for a weekend - £5

60 mins of orange/landline calls for a weekend - £2

150mins of calls to any mobile/landline for a weekend - £5

you think these deals are good?

the problem is they time limited so say if you wanted unlimited calls every weekend and 40 photo messages you would have to pay 4x5 and 4x2 so £28 a month plus whatever your weekday calls/text cost.

I am wary of offers such as this you would have to be using your mobile phone an aweful lot to make these good value for money. I just got 200 text messages for £12 on my phone, but there is no time limit so I expect with the amount I use them I got at least 6 months worth of text messages now.

Orange are now offering 'free' text messages if you top up by £10 or more a month - 300 free for a £10 monthly top up and increasing to 1000 if you top up more.

Also 3G video calling - 30p a min to other orange users or 50p a min to other networks.... OR.... pay £5 for 10 mins of video calling to use within a week. Proof that Orange have lost the plot!!!

Nothing good again about that offer, I currently got 200 text messages for £12 which I have no time limit to use a offer I am fairly happy with. This is with t-mobile.

Hi everyone, was a while since i posted on this thread so i thought i'd update.
This is what i'm up to now as far as my mobile spendage goes!

Every month i put £15 on my phone, this means i automatically get 3000 free evening and weekend texts AND 600 free evening and weekend minutes- Orange to Orange.

Then i buy 50 texts for £4 for daytime use and try limit texting to after 7pm.
Then i get a £4 Orange World Extra which gives me pretty much all the WAP access i need for that month.

Leaving me with £7 to play with..... It's a fab offer. :)

Chrysalis

Umm so in all how much do you spend per month on your phone? and are you using all your free text and phone call minutes up?

I expect my £12 investment on text messages to last me minimum 6 months and the £5 credit I purchased for calls to last me 3 months.

etccarmageddon

email response from orange:-
"I can confirm that this was an out dated offer that has now expired
please ignore it and accept out apologies for the error."

You guys spend an aweful lot on phone's if you think an offer that requires a £5 or £10 topup weekly is good.

5p an hour to an Orange mobile?

Not much action on the inbound front I would imagine!? :p:

Chrysalis

Thats what the text messages are there for, I avoid ringing mobiles.

I dont have a £50 monthly budget for phone costs it is that simple.

I get a lot more inbound calls then I ring out as well, it is just the way I am I guess, but I find it odd that people moan about mobile phone deal's when they throwing money away in the 1st place by using them as primary means of phonecalls when landlines are far cheaper.

I spend my £15 in a month- that's all you need to get the offers i'm on.

I probably don't use all of my texts, seeing as it works out at about 100 a day :D

But i put 15 on and that lasts the month, without scrimping. Cheaper than a contract suits me down to the ground.

I remember when Orange's big selling point was that their price plans were dead simple (and dead cheap as well). That's why my first (and second) mobiles were Orange contract phones.

Now it's all so confoosing ... I'm glad I get a phone from work!

etccarmageddon
14-11-2005, 16:37
Orange pay as you price plans are now a joke - if you're lucky like me you're on the old talk and save plan - 25p a min for first 3 mins then 5p a min after that (calling orange phones and landlines).

The current plans are 20p a min to orange phones and landlines all day!

or 15p a min if you select the 'same rates' option which doesnt offer the free texts.

20p a min = £12 an hour!

Hey everyone,

My dad has a nokia 1100 and he has never been able to get into his voicemail.
I have consulted the book, but it does not tell me how to change this number, which of course I don't know what is the correct number.

his voicemail number is: 07797310010 but he always gets 3 beep tones that let him know it is not connecting to anything.

how can I change this number to the correct one, and what is the correct one?

Is there an option to alter the speed dialing or turn it off as that may be interfering with it.

It is somewhere in the settings menu of the phone, if this is an original orange phone, call orange they can send a text message that updates the settings.

The number you should program is +447973100123

It should be somewhere in the settings menu.

I bought it last year from Carphonewarehouse in clydebank last year for my old mans crimbo.

I got it on orange brand new, apparently.

I have found the orange website, and I asked them a general question, explaining that it is my fathers, and I registered the phone last year, so he could use it.
I also gave them the model and number of the phone.

I hope they email me back to let me know what to do.

thanks all

I noticed an auction on ebay where this bloke was selling info on how to get 30 text messages from orange by a simple method which he claims you can repeat as many times as you like.

A little research reveals this is basically submitting a text message to the number 1122 so you can try services such as photo messaging, text messaging, gprs/wap etc.

text the word Photo and you get 30 photo messages to try within a month - or text TEXT and I believe you get 30 free texts or Email to get £12 worth of GPRS.

I've only tried the Photo and Email options - Photo worked (it took a few days for anything to happen) but Email has sent me a text telling me I'm going to get it but nothing has happened.

Anyway, this info might be useful to you especially if you're a cheapskate like me! Orange also say you can only try a service once - which contradicts what the people selling this info on ebay are claiming.

watch out for that evening calls offer - it's supposed to work ok with voice extras - ie. if you purchase a voice extra and make a call to another orange phone in the evening it's supposed to deduct the call from your 'free calls' not your voice extra. well last week I had a voice extra on my account and rang and orange phone during the evening - the call cost was taken off my voice extra.

OK IMPORTANT TIP FOR ANYONE USING ORANGE OUT HERE...

if you upgrade your phone make sure the message centre number is:-

+447973100979

not

+447973100973

otherwise you will not get your free text messages.

Orange phones appear to come preconfigured with the second number. I have just spent a week speaking to 3 people on 3 occasions at Orange before I found this out - very frustrating that such a simple thing can waste so much time.

and now... Orange TV - you've seen the adverts and perhaps wondered is it good or crap? It's not even operational! For over a week now it has been 'unavailable' and there is no information on the orange web site to suggest it's down - not very customer focused.... today it has just resurfaced but when you try to use it you click on 'subscribe' and it says "purchase failure" "please come back later".

:banghead:
