First i've heard of it, but it seems to the solution as to how I think F1 should be, so i'll definitely watch it. Wether it becomes interesting or just another glorified, televised parade, time will tell. Definitely sounds brilliant though.
I don't know which channel will be showing it, I think its Sky Sports (hopefully BBC, and NOT ITV)

I think it is a good idea, it will really tell who is the fastest driver and not the fastest car.
Apparently the engine is a seal unit no mods aloud, but they can change tyre pressure, areodynamics.

is this the one that's run by the petrolhead arab bloke?
Apparently the engine is a seal unit<snip>
What does it do? Balance a ball on its nose, jump through hoops, that sort of thing?
;) :p:
That should be sealed unit (can't speel two whell at teh momnt)

Sounds very good, so i'll be watching, see how it goes.
I would like them to handcap cars with lighter drivers, so every car, with driver are of equal weight. Otherwise, you'll get the same thing happening here as with horse racing, where they just try and find smaller lighter midgets for riders, instead of better riders.
Ahh well, see how it goes.

Damn, are there going to be highlights on terrestrial/ non-premium channels?
It is only on Sky Sports.
It is only on Sky Sports.
:grind:
So that's another event I'm going to miss along with the Test Matches next year because someone's spent a lot of money to sell it to us

It sounds like a great concept, and I hope it is successful.
What would really clinch it for me is Murray Walker doing the official commentary. :)
Nelson Piquet Jnr wins boths races and get the fastest lap and gets the maximum points available 21
Well of course I realised last night that I could change my Sky package line up and drop half of the movie channels to pick up Sky Sports 1 and 3, so that's what I did and I'm damn glad I did so!
Forget Formula One with its boring processions, there was action all through both A1 races, the initial sprint and the "feature race".
They've got a whole bunch of the things that I always said F1 should introduce to make it more interesting: equal cars, making it a test of driver skill, only four guys working on the car in the pits, plus two on the jacks, instead of the twenty odd that F1 has and much less down force allowing proper slip-streaming.
All in all it made for some very exciting and dramatic racing (although some of that wasn't intentional :Yikes: ) and I'm definitely going to keep watching this series! :)
Did you notice that there was no adverts during the race (unlike F1)
That driver that rolled the In car footage the driver (who should have put his hands to his chest, to stop the risk of breaking them) was awesome.
Unluckily Team GB has electric problems

Good point!!
I watched the F1 Brazillian GP just after the A1 GP.
Well, when I say "watched", I had it on and was listening it to it whilst scanning in a bunch of pictures on my computer, just turning to look when the commentators started getting excited, but then going back to the PC again!
Yawnsville...
was an enjoyable race.. still a few times when cars were faster and couldn't pass but i'm sure they can work on that
seemed like none of the teams knew what to do during the pitstops but nice to see a series where the drivers are clearly driving the car rather than a computer
would like to see the car abit wider and go abit quicker though.. will def watch all the other races of this series.. just hope the other teams can catch Brasil as they were at a different level ATM

The thing is, again unlike F1, the teams are *not* allowed to do masses of testing, meaning that a lot of what they're doing has to be worked out as they go along!
Don't forget that the GB race was the first time that they raced in anger, the time have been practice and testing, so they are finding their feet.

F1 is more like a advertising campaign for ferrari now it is too much based on the technical capabilities of the car and pit stop strategy. There is also too much money involved.
Roung two starts this weekend.
Germany
Sat - SS2 1PM - Qualifying
Sun - SS1 Noon - Race
am looking forward to this just hope this time Brasil aren't too far ahead of all the opposition.. is shaping up to be a good series.. still a few issues about overtaking though as in the first two races there were cars that were begind slower cars but still couldn't pass and in the sprint race no one wants to throuh away points or a good starting position for race two
Race 3 coverage starts @ 1 on SS2 (722/41)
Race 3 coverage starts @ 1 on SS2 (722/41)
Which is bloody annoying because I changed my package to get SS1 and 3 so I could watch the A1 GP, but they've got rugby on instead, so I'm going to have to wait until 10pm to see the race :grind:
Well I got to watch it and *damn* there was a lot of good racing going on!
Forget about F1 processions with a few cars at the front lapping the most of the rest of the pack, there's racing all the way down the field, real tactical choices about when to do your pit stop and how to utilise the power boost button and races that are by no means predictable!
F1?
Boring!
Those blooming italians held us up in qual
yes this is a good series so far but this a few issues with the car.. hopefully these should be fixed by the next race... not sure how big the crowds are now.. Brands was paxed but the others have looked empty
would like to see a few more top line drivers as still not quality throughout the field at the moment but it's early days
The sport is in its first season so there are bound to be a few teething errors.
My only concern at the moment is the speed they take to remove broken cars from the track.

Which is odd because I was under the impression that the marshalls were supplied by the Track, so they should be the same ones that deal with F1 etc.

the series hasn't been to any F1 tracks yet

Eh? Estorial has hosted F1 Grand Prix.
But the point is that AIUI the marshalls come with the track when you hire it, so they should be practiced enough in clearing problems.
the next race is this weekend
Durban, South Africa (http://www.a1gp.com/racing/season.php?flashNavId=2&raceid=9)

Did anyone see this weekends race in Indonesia?Yes, Team GB should have won the feature race quite easily if they had come in on the first pace car.
