Hi All, A friend of mine owns a 2002 Clio which the dealer told her that before the end of this year(2005), it will need to get MOT'd. I always thought that new cars has 4 years on them before they get MOT'd.
Can any light be shed on this?
New cars are exempt from needing an MOT for 3 years from new, that's what my parents were told when they bought a brand new car last year.
Tis only 3 years, you will need one to "commence" the fourth year.
As has been said it is when a car becomes 3 years old then you have to have it MOTed

The garage is trying to pull a fast one.

if it was registered at the end of 2002 then the end of 2005 is 3 years :)

It is in South Africa ...lol called a road worthy and you only get it done once as long as you own the car :Yikes: of course if you sell the car on then the new owner must get a road worthy cert of their own, just thought I'd mention it :D :disturbd:
no MOT s on the isle of man , well so my ex had joy in telling me .
