hi does anyone know where i can get a mpeg2 codec?

As far as i know you can only get these with commercial dvd software. Like power DVD or WINDVD. The cost about £30.

I needed codecs to play avi. files on XP Media Player (why I don't know). I was referred to http://www.ligos.com/estore.htm where you can d/l it for $15. But I found that http://www.k-lite.tk/ had a d/l for codec which I ran and it enabled my MP player as well. In the config. utility it states MPEG 2 Enabled. Might be worth a try.

sorted it, seems the file is an svcd mpeg apparently svcd u need the XCD DirectShow filter to decode the svcd wrapper.
