We have had a bit of a slow start to the year given the lack of good films after Christmas. I thought now would be a good time to take a quick peek at how things are going before The Batman jumps on the scene. Moon Fall and The 355 remain spectacular failures but Uncharted is doing well.

Well after its opening weekend The Batman has already taken the No. 4 spot. It pretty much guaranteed to hit No. 1 within the next two weeks. The interesting thing now is going to be what its total gross is going to be and whether any further releases this year, such as Dr Strange, are going to beat it.

Batman continues to do well and should take the No. 1 spot this week:

Batman has comfortably taken the No.1 spot and Morbius has jumped straight in at No. 12 after its opening weekend.

Batman is is up to $750m, doubt it will go much higher now as it is available on streaming services. Fantastic Beasts and The Lost City are straight in at No. 6 and No. 15 respectively.

Now is a good time for another look before Dr Strange comes out. I think they are expecting it to be the highest grossing film of the year. I have never seen a film dominate the schedule at my cinema so much in all my life. It is on at least 20 times per day during the opening week.

Batman still holds No. 1 comfortably, Fantastic Beasts is in at No. 5, Morbius at No. 8 and Lost City at 15. I think we'll get a stronger top 10 once films like Dr Strange, Top Gun, Jurassic World, Minions and Thor are released over summer. I would expect each of those to be $1bn films so it will be interesting to see what happens.
