Odeon have got the tickets up for advanced booking already and there is a midnight premiere. It is probably something to do with the fact that Black Panther is racking is $$$ and they are expecting Infinity War to do even better. There is no sign of a triple bill yet though.

This might be old news because I am 2 issues behind in my SFX reading but it has been officially confirmed that they are making a Black Widow movie and it will be coming out in phase 4.

General believe me, I would never have thought for a moment you were so excited. You could have given us some clues!

Now be a good boy and sit down and be patient.

I have decided to do my own movie marathon. I have seen the more recent films like Guardians and Dr Strange loads at the cinema when they came out but I haven't seen Iron Man 1 and 2 since they did the triple bill for Iron Man 3 and the same for Caotain America. They didn't do a triple bill for Ragnarok so the last time I saw I saw Thor 1 and 2 was when 2 came out. I have got 16 films to watch in 10 days and I am going to try and get it just right so I can go to the cinema Tuesday evening so I can see Black Panther again before Infinity War on Wednesday.

I don't normally go into the nitty gritty details of films and don't like to know everything that goes on behind the scenes but every now and again when something magical comes along I like to get to know the people behind it. I did it with the prequel trilogy for Star Wars and signed up to the exclusive fan service where you got the behind the scenes documentaries and featurettes online and watched a tonne of interviews with George Lucas, Rick Berman and John Knoll for example and I have been looking more into Marvel recently. I have been ploughing through all the films over the last week or so and I have only got Spiderman and Ragnarok left to watch tomorrow. When you watch the films you keep seeing the same producers names etc come up in the credits such as Kevin Feige and I keep asking myself "who is this guy and what kind of person is he that he has been able to plan and coordinate this massive franchise and amazing stories over the last 10 years?". I was just poking around on youtube and this three part interview popped up on my recommended list which he has done for Infinity War and reflects on the last 10 years and the evolution of the MCU.

I am going to make a prediction. I think Infinity War is going to break the record for highest opening weekend ever and first week. I don't think it is going to beat Avatar as highest grossing film of all time but I definitely think it is going to hit the $2 billion mark and take the No 4 spot from Jurassic World. This is where things currently stand atm.

https://www.cableforum.uk/images/local/2018/04/25.jpg

Over the last 10 years or so I have been to tonnes of midnight premieres at my Odeon for various films, some standalone and some franchise, and they are normally shown in anything between 1 and 4 screens at my 9 screen Odeon. I knew The Last Jedi was going to be big last year because for the first time ever it was in 6 screens at midnight and the reason why I think Infinity War is going to be huge is because it is in 7 screens and they are pretty much sold out. The two remaining screens it isn't in are tiny so the cinema is pretty much going to be at capacity tonight which I am sure will be the first time ever. There isn't much between the $2 billion mark, TFA and Titanic so if Infinity War can get there I would love to see it take the No.2 spot behind Avatar and the icing on the cake will be if it breaks the records for the fastest film to get there. Can it do it in 4 weeks?

Absolutely superb film in so many ways. You can read my spoiler free thoughts (https://www.cableforum.uk/board/showthread.php?t=37399&page=339#post35944898) here. If you don't and all you read is this, take my friendly advice and make sure you stay right till the very end of the credits for the post credit scene.

So SPOILERS!!

I mean in the next spoiler there really will be the entire movie spoiled so last chance...

Ok so at the end we know many of those that turned to dust will come back but there will be further movies with these characters, many already in production.

Can we assume that those who turned to dust will return but those killed during the movie via other means are to stay dead?

P.S Dr Strange clearly has a plan as he 1) gave the stone saying it's the only way and 2) has seen the future in which they win.

General Maximus
29-04-2018, 14:20
Putting the story aside and spoilers, you can also put future movies into the equation. We know we are going to get another Guardians, Black Panther, Doctor Strange and Spderman movie so i assume all those characters are safe. There arent going to be anymore Iron Man, Thor or Captain America movies so those characters are potentially expendable. That being said (not giving any spoilers away), i am wondering whether the first major character to be popped off will make a come back in Part 2 and you know why i am thinking it.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-43944269 Avengers: Infinity War made history with a $630m (£457m) global opening weekend take, according to estimates.

Industry tracker Exhibitor Relations made the estimate, even though the film has not yet opened in China.

If confirmed, the superhero sequel would overtake The Fate of the Furious's $542m global opening weekend haul, a record set in 2017.

The film is also seen taking the all-time domestic opening record, making $250m in the US alone.

29-04-2018, 20:34
Nice, it will be fantastic if it can get to $1bn by the end of the week. It is a shame they couldnt get it released in China at the same time because it probably would have come close to $1bn this weekend.

I couldn't get a ticket this weekend, I feel like I have to see it in IMAX, but was that desperate I started searching 2D showings and even those were booked. Got 5 days off after tomorrow so gonna get in on a morning viewing sometime during the week.

General Maximus
29-04-2018, 22:09
Watch it in 3d and go for premiere seats so you are center screen. I have just had a look at the Metrocenter in Gateshead for you and there are loads of seats free for the 3d imax performance at 13:30 on Tuesday. Don't forget your popcorn.

Paul

Ugh, I hate 3D.

Interesting end, one that obviously cannot remain as is - given the sequals already in the pipeline.

I'm guessing the 1 in 14 million outcomes where they (ultimately) win is a little more complex that first thought.

I stayed for the post credits scene, but didnt really understand it as that symbol on the pager thing meant nothing to me (yes, Ive since looked it up).

Oddly though that Character logo, the movie for them is actually set in the 90s so will be clearly done to introduce her for whatever is next.

It is. The Infinity War cast need your help and want to know where Ant-man is. Things might have gone differently if he was there.

loved the movie thought it had some brilliant bits like Rocket and Winter Soldier, such a shame that MCU already announced which characters would get another movie as would have liked it if they kept us in suspense on that.

https://news.sky.com/story/avengers-infinity-war-set-to-hit-1bn-at-the-box-office-in-record-time-11358752

Avengers: Infinity War is set for another milestone as it edges towards becoming the fastest film in history to reach $1bn at the global box office.
Marvel Studios' latest superhero epic enjoyed the biggest opening weekend on record following its highly anticipated release last Thursday, and since then has climbed to a total gross of $905.1m (£756m).
That figure was recorded after US cinemas closed on Thursday.
The film has made $338.4m in America, meaning that it will cross the $1bn mark on Friday or Saturday - its 10th and 11th days of release.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens holds the current record for the fastest film to $1bn, having done it in 12 days when it released just before Christmas in 2015.
JJ Abrams' blockbuster went on to become the third highest grossing film ever with $2.07bn in takings, still well behind Titanic and Avatar, which tops the chart with $2.79bn.
It remains to be seen whether Infinity War can reach such heights, but it looks certain to at least gatecrash the top five, with the huge Chinese market being made to wait until 11 May until they can see it.

Hopefully the Chinese will add another $500 million to it.

Avengers: Infinity War' Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide in Record Time

Disney and Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War continues its record pace, topping $450 million domestically in just nine days and the $1 billion mark worldwide in a record 11 days. Among the weekend's new wide releases, MGM and Lionsgate's Overboard remake delivered a solid debut in the runner-up position while Focus's Tully and Electric Entertainment's Bad Samaritan delivered disappointing debuts in the low single digits.

With an estimated $112.4 million, Disney and Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War is once again the king of the weekend box office, topping its nearest competitor by nearly $100 million, and delivering the second largest second weekend ever. The film's domestic gross now stands at $450.8 million after just ten days in release, pacing behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens which reached that mark in just nine days.

Internationally, Infinity War remained the #1 western release in every territory in which it has been released, posting an estimated $162.6 million from 54 overseas markets this weekend for a global weekend totaling $275.1 million, bringing the film's worldwide cume to a massive $1.16 billion.

The lone new major market for Infinity War this weekend was the Thursday release in Russia where it set a new opening weekend record topping the previous best posted by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, delivering an estimated $17.6 million, already exceeding the lifetime cume of Captain America: Civil War in the market. South Korea continues to lead the way internationally where the film has brought in $69.1 million followed by the UK ($67.2m), Mexico ($48.7m), Brazil ($44.3m) and India ($35.7m). The film releases in China next weekend on May 11 where, using current exchange rates, Civil War debuted with $98 million, Avengers: Age of Ultron debuted with $84 million and Black Panther debuted with $66 million.

Overall, Infinity War's 11 day run to $1 billion worldwide is the fastest of any film in history and the sixth Marvel title to reach that mark and 17th for Walt Disney Studios. A total of 34 films have crossed $1 billion at the worldwide box office, see the full list here.

Yeah that's the bit that confused me too. Then again, it seems to be sticking quite well to the source material minus the licencing issues (Sony/Fox/Disney) So anyone that's read the source probably has a good idea what happens next.

I thought it was ok, however even though the film was 2 1/2 hours I felt it didn't do justice to some of the characters given their ability in their own films to save the world and beat the bad guys and didn't give them enough credit or explore what they can do as a hero themselves. I felt it a bit rushed but I guess you are time limited when you have a mass of super heroes.

Looking forward to the next one though

General Maximus

It has just hit the $2bn mark and took the No 4 spot for highest grossing movie of all time. Another $67 million and it will take the No 3 spot from The Force Awakens.

True, and there will be even more of it when Incredibles 2 comes out. I think it is going to clear $1bn no problem.

General Maximus
30-06-2018, 17:08
I went to see if for the very last time today. Technically today was the last showing but I am sure it will come back at the end of July for the school summer hols, it would be silly not to because I don't think there is anything else on apart from Incredibles 2 and Ant-man and the Wasp. At the moment it is $35 million behind Star Wars Ep7 for the No 3 spot of highest grossing film of all time.
