Had tivo installed Monday, which as since spent the past 3 days locked up and not recording anything. I wanted a recorder I could rly on!! Had super hub installed to increase broadband speed and wireless range is shocking. Spent 30 mins on hold to vm this evening to be told "keep an eye on it" so I've gone from a reliable virgin service to a new 1 yr contract and bugger all works!!

have you checked the power levels? if so and everything looks good get on the blower again and get a tech booked for the tivo. modem mode the SH and link your own router.

My router 10mb max so no point, vm tell me signal lvls are ok. If they can't deliver the service it's put me back as I was or good bye. Sick of being over charged or paying the right price and not getting what's advertised

The Super Hub wireless performance (or lack of) is well documented on this forum and elsewhere. You can buy a D-Link DIR-615 from eBay for £10. That will cure your wireless issues.
With regard to your Tivo not working as it should, as thenry said, call VM again and get a tech booked. Tivo is a good piece of kit, when it's working properly.
Let us know how you get on.

Welcome to the new reality of Virgin Media - rubbish service and lousy broadband! I had near 12 years of good service but now I am suffering continuous drop outs that require reboots of my router and the SH almost daily and sometimes several times each day. VM are cramming as many users as possible onto their creaky network. their speed increases has been delayed by months in my area. I am off to either Sky or BT when my current contract is finished. I have had enough!!

vm also told you to twiddle your thumbs. could you post your SH and tivo power levels.

have you tried a tivo reset

as Jem said above a cheap D-Link DIR-615 on ebay could easily sort your wifi issues. go for an Asus or Linksys for a higher end product.

power levels?

Interestingly, the DIR-615 only has 40mW transmit power (EIRP), while the legal limit (and what I'd expect most routers to achieve) is 100mW.

Imagine a dli k615 with 100mW drooooollll, hopefully thats what the superhub 2 will have

qasdfdsaq

The Superhub theoretically thinks it can do 400mW.

Why is there so many members who praise VM to high hilts and then read comments like these on this thread.

I have spoken to various members of staff at VM to resolve a problem that l have had, they gave me a poor discount, after explaining to them it has cost me a great deal, they did not give a toss.

I am so angry with VM at the moment, there customers services say ' we will increase the power signal to your box. If they increase it any more they will take it away from other customers.

They have got all this technology available but don't have the experience to back it up.

As per the 'contract' thats a waste of time.

Bought one of those and the max wireless download is 10Mb the same as my Linksys WRT54GS. If i wireless to he shub as a router i get 30Mb wireless

Updated to dd wrt firmware increased the power output and the signal strength seems no better than the shub

put d links latest firmware on it. or tweaked for vm firmware ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/Virgin_Media/Firmware/

Wicked_and_Crazy
26-11-2012, 23:27
Did that, found that I got better wireless throughput when sitting next to the router but at the other end of the house it was far worse than with the dd wrt set at 251mw

carry on testing the 615, use the SH or buy a high end router. Asus, Linksys.

Hmmm you were one of the people that suggested the dir-615:rolleyes:

thenry

in most cases the 615 does do a lot better than the SH and it is the cheapest option. you could easily sell on the 615 for a tenna anyway. i also advised Asus and Linksys in that post.
