Hi,I'm new to this forum, and I'm hoping someone can help...My freesat was working fine till the other day when the box seemed to die.I disconnected it all and when i disconnected the satellite cable it showed signs of life.I went outside to inspect the cable, put it into a new bit of the satellite connector(lnb has 4 outputs)but that did nothing,as soon as i put in the cable to the box,it goes dead. Then i saw that the freesat guy had run the cable up the wall and then changed to indoor cable and only protected the join with tape so i thought maybe water damage? Also, does cable water damage permanently damage the box or can i get away with just getting new cable? The freesat dish still works fine on another cable and box in my son's room. I'm a bit scared to try my maybe damaged box on my sons tv.....

If there's a short in the LNB or the cable then the box's PSU will probably shut down..

Try the box in your sons room as the only thing it could possibly do is cause the LNB to go faulty but if that's already the case with part of the LNB you'll need a new quad lnb anyway..

Thanks for quick response.Just plugged the box in question into my sons tv via the scart and used his freesat cable, the box seems fine and responds to the remote no problem.Does this mean i may just need a new cable from satellite dish to box?

If you have quick access to the LNB then just swap round the cable to one of the other outputs and try again, if still not working then it's the Cable, if it works then it's the single LNB output
