Upgraded to 100M earlier today and i have since found out that my current Router Netgear WGR614v9 only goes up-to 50MB.

VM are sending me a new wireless router out i did ask which one but the technician stated he doesn't know but it will be either a Netgear or D-Link.

Does anyone know the model they send out for Netgear & D-Link.

Thanks.

Tanny

I'd expect you'll get a SuperHub.

I already have a SuperHub i was using the SH in Modem Mode with my Netgear wireless router which Virgin provided about 4 years ago.

Considering the warranty on the wireless routers only last 2 years, I'm surprised you are getting any form of replacement. If somehow you are, it might be a D-Link as those were the last standalone routers VM did

The Tech guy i spoke to surprised me and when i asked are you definitely sending me a replacement Wireless router and not another SH he was adamant that it will be a new Wireless router either netgear or D-Link.

Do you know what model number the D-Link they were sending out?

Well a DIR-615 only goes up to around 93Meg when I upgraded to 100Meg as it doesn't have Gigabit ports.

I thought that with VM you don't actually own the equipment, and that it is owned by VM?

If this is the case, then a warranty wouldn't apply.

It is very interesting to see that VM are sending out routers to people who are having problems with the wireless on the SH. Maybe they have had claims against them that the SH isn't fit for purpose as a wireless router. Can you shed any light on this Ben??

It's worth giving the router a go. After all, what have you got to lose?

Why refuse a free router even if you do not use it at least you have a spare.

If this is the case, then a warranty wouldn't apply. The routers weren't classed as owned by VM, only the modems.

The OP had a previous standalone router from VM that they happen to be using with the SuperHub. It seems VM are replacing the router because it now doesn't work with the speed of broadband.

Ben you are correct the SuperHub is fine the router only does a max of 50MB but as i have upgraded to 100MB this is no good to me.

The useful Tech guy is sending a FREE replacement which was nice of him.

Ben i have today be told by Customer Services that i will be getting a Netgear router. Do u know which model it will be as the adviser didn't have this information as its already on the way to me.

Regards

Tanny

Dlink != Netgear
If it is a router it will be a D Link DIR615 which oddly Netgear do not manufacture, now if it is a Superhub then that shows how bad the current level of technical now is, you only have to read the community forum and some of the stupid answers the forum team give either as team members or when posting as individual posters.

Have a look in the email section a team member has posted as a normal member using his own name and still getting it wrong and he is supposed to be 2nd line, he is saying that they should credit if the free email goes down, I told him to talk to a manager but as most are green behind the gills it will go over their heads.

You get more accurate advice on here.

They do have completely different order codes but the new guys are capable of anything considering what the new 2nd line post on the community forum.:erm:

A lot of the previous codes have now been removed as they were duplicates. Any codes that remain will order the correct kit
