Broadband Size S: 2Mb will be upgraded to 5Mb
Broadband Size M: 10Mb will be upgraded to 20Mb
Broadband Size L: 10Mb will be upgraded to 20Mb
Broadband Size XL: 20Mb and 30mb will be upgraded to 60Mb
Broadband Size XXL and 100mb: 50Mb will merge with 100mb. 100mb users will get a price reduction to match 50mb. Both will be upgraded to 120mb.

Depends on the package your on... ^see above. Anything higher than 20Mb will need a new modem, in which VM should send one out to you.

I think you will have to have a superhub to qualify for the speed doubling

Thanks for the replies. I'm on the 10Mb M broadband so I suppose I'll be ok with my existing modem.

I'm still using an old NTL 250 modem. I'm only on 10Mb now but used to be on 20 and never had any problems, so if I get the upgrade to 20 it should work fine. Don't think it supports much beyond that though so dunno if I'll get a superhub or not. Supposed to be being upgraded by end of April but no sign of anything happening yet.

yeah but they are moving everyone onto the DOCSIS3 network, which your modem cant handle

My modem says this, DOCSIS 1.0/1.1/2.0 Compliant
Does this mean it'll have to be upgraded

Any speed higher than 20Mb/s needs a superhub.
If you get on the phone and keep at them while remaining Polite, VM will do the upgrade, all for FREE, and youll go up to 30Mb/s.

At no cost to you...
You may even get 60Mb/s For free. If on the correct packages. not if you only have BB.

the modems crap. do the above. you can try myvirginmedia for a self install upgrade link within the free double link. youll most probably have to call up as mentioned above.

not full on which is crap in todays tech/security

I consider high ping, high jitter and instability to be crap, features the superhub has which the 255 doesnt ;)

true but security should be considered first.

Wat? the 255 was the best modem I ever had. I only got a superhub in order to get 30mbit. If I hadn't wanted 30mbit, I would still have my 255.

true but security should be considered first.

I don't want my ISP to be responsible for my security. I don't trust them enough. My security is defined by me, making only me responsible for it. I have a commercial (paid for) antivirus software on all my windows PC's (2 of them), with a commercial firewall as part of the package.

My linux machines arun iptables and have all un-needed services turned off.

I personally think my own security runs rings around that provided by the superhub.

I'm not talking about that. I'm on about VMs network security.

You will get the automatic double speed from 10 > 20 with your existing modem.

Any further upgrades will be on request and will require a SuperHub
