I just upgraded to 30M last week, in some speed test sites, e.g. speedtest.net, it is giving me 50M download, while this forum's speed test is giving me 36m, can this be right? In RS, I can download at more than 7Mbit/s, that is more than 50M, how can that be?

Go into your router and see what the config file is. My 30Mb XL package shows this...

Primary Downstream Service Flow
Downstream(0)
SFID 57544
Max Traffic Rate 33330000 bps
Max Traffic Burst 3044 bytes
Mix Traffic Rate 0 bps

Are you sure your not on the new 60Mb service? As my download speed maxes out at 3970.8 KB/sec

As I said before, when I download from RS, my speed is up to 7 or 8 mbit, I am happy with that, speed testing website are useful by not showing the real speed due to various factors.

Try the London namesco server as IMO speednet has gone proper crap on most servers

If you are talking about the BBmax speed tester, the results are as follows:

Download Speed: 52335 kbps (6541.9 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 2892 kbps (361.5 KB/sec )

I'm on my phone ATM so no links

Go to speednet then select the London server but there is 2 or 3, you want the namesco one, then post the results

yeah your deffo right, tbh i was using the Leeds one lately, but just tried the Leeds and the namesco, and both got around 80mb (i assumed it was just peak time, as they usually max me out) but the Lancaster topped out at 100mb:tu:

noone is due for the upgrade until then onwards, looks like your firewall is playing about with your traffic, do another test with it disabled ;)

also, look at your max speed in the config, that will put it straight :)

yeah that testers too quick. they all suck. do a manual test downloading files from decent servers and then uploading files

I just had my superhub arrive yesterday, so been using this to test this morning. Looks like it is dependant on which server you test on: If I test from Coventry or Derby, it shows that I am getting about 12M, but using the Birmingham server shows my speed as just under 50M.

obviously different servers will have different capacity pipes, but the actual flash tester I find to be the most accurate
