Hey there

My speed has suddenly more than halved, my best speed now is 21mb, before calling Vodafone again (they said there was no problem...) I was wondering if someone could look at my power levels and see if there was anything glaring that stands out...

Any ideas? Help much appreciated!

i thought you meant virgin just was wondeirng if you had really called vodafone i would have bene interested in the chat oyu had with them lol

I am yes :( Just so weird because I don't see anything drastically wrong, I tried going wired, even changed ethernet cables etc but no luck.

try these two tests

http://speedtest1.virginmedia.com/speedtest

Username – trials
Password – Tr14lz57

http://mcs.lushsoft.com/myspeed/mycapacity_50mb.html

there more accurate, teh virgin one will test your connection most accurately as it in virgn interal network, the other uses udp so gives better test result of external network to virign

Do this test:

http://mcslhr.visualware.com/myspeed/mycapacity_50mb.html

If your line capacity comes back at or near 50mb, it'll be a VM congestion problem.

download all these files at once you should be able to donwload 10 files at once if not you will have to tweak your registry which i will post if oyu need

the downstream power levels are too high...
but i dont think that would be cauing the pseed issues you have, seeing as your speeds seemed to be stuck at 25mbit(ish) it looks like you have QoS or similar enabled on your router

Except it's not just during peak hours, it's like this continuously...

QoS definitely isn't enabled.

could be a load balancing issues as you are only using 4 of the available channels?

you cant fix the mode automatically will do it to allow more channels as the upgrades are done

really, what are you on about?

the VMNG300 uses a max of 4 channels, the superhub a max of 8

Where as area has been upgraded, there will be either 5, 6, 7 or 8 channels available, which are bonded and the load is spread between them, as you are only using 4 of the available channels, its a possibility that the load on your set of channels is higher than on the other 2.

The above however isnt likely as you seem to have a steady speed of around 25mbit. I meant to ask, are you using wireless? or are the tests run wired?

If wireless, then thats probably the problem
