I take it that you are happy with your 30Mb connection, as people say you only normally hear about the bad stories on forums, I am glad your happy with your 30Mb connection as I am mine and can't wait for it to be 60Mb.

 I get upset if my jitter is more than 0ms. Mine is a bit high today.

not sure of the point of this thread but if its to try and discredit people who have reported superhub issues like increased jitter it isnt working.

is variables on the VM network with differing utilisation on every port as well as the possibility of different ports been configured differently to handle different user loads.

His posting that is as equally valid as those posting that they have had problems, or is it not acceptable for people to say they have no issues, and the only acceptable posts are those which support your experiences?

My impression right now is the number of good vs bad Superhub opinions has levelled and there might just be more positives than negatives.

This has changed several times over the past year and a half. There have been times where there were overwhelmingly negative reviews posted (80%+) but that's not the case right now so I don't see why people continue to refer to it.

In my (brief) encounters with the Superhub so far the electronic hardware and platform, while designed to be cheap, has decent core specs and individually those parts work to spec.

Everything ok here too ;). 30 Mb/s XL using a Superhub in modem-mode.

http://www.pingtest.net/result/58502537.png (http://www.pingtest.net)

The download bandwidth is limited by the CPU in my PC Engines WRAP firewall which is pegged to 100% at this speed.

It would be interesting to know how many of the good experiences are in full rather than modem only mode. Last time there was a poll on the SH, if I recall correctly, the number on modem only mode was about 50%.

My initial post was to simply let people know that my superhub modem and router are working well. I have no idea what jitter is, to the previous post.
The superhub gets slagged relentlessly so I thought to show the other side of the coin!

apart froma few people , no one has denied the shub can work, but the number that it work for is overshadow by the number it doesnt, and failure rae is pretty high

Jitter is a bad thing. The Superhub supposedly increases jitter.

Your ping test is showing considerable jitter even off-peak. Yet you're saying it's working well, simply because you don't understand how it's not working well.

Now I don't know how much of that jitter is being caused by your Superhub (sorry but I have no means to measure it) but to say there is no problem simply because you don't understand the problem is flawed.

Doesn't it just get your goat (Billy goat ..Troll get it?) when innocent folk come on to these forums and get put down and patronised just because their knowledge is not complete.

Feeling sorry for SSR. I've been there mate.

No, they're getting put down for making unfounded statements and posting irrelevant or contradictory evidence then using "I don't understand it" as an excuse.

So the Superhub is all the OP asks for. He doesn't say what he asks for.
He says something about his wireless speed. He posts an internet connection test that has nothing to do with his wireless speed. FYI - the internet is on the opposite part of your router to your wireless.
He posts a ping test that he doesn't understand, which from your own response shows his connection and/or Superhub to be bad.

This whole thread makes no sense to me. Meh. I'm out before I get attacked for attacking (which I probably am)

Do you think a good teacher helps students to a good level of understanding and appreciation by skilfully asking salient and thought-provoking questions? (non-patronsing approach)

If your answer is "Yes," then there is hope for you. (Now I am patronising you.)

roughbeast

Yes he may. In which case you need to ask the student some different questions first. eg What does 2 represent? What does 7 represent? What does + mean you should do with the 2s? ...and so on. ie You need to teach from where the student is, not from where you are.

That's because they have learning difficulties. Rote learning is perhaps what they need.

---------- Post added at 16:59 ---------- Previous post was at 16:55 ----------

I can download the odd torrent at a max speed of 3.6mb/ sec. I am happy.

I reckon I get so uppity is because virgin have branded it a superhub. With a name like that customers have a high expectation, and it's me who has to let them down when they can't get wifi in areas they used to.

my superhub worked fine for afew weeks then my laptop stopped seeing the bloody thing, for some strange reason it disappears when its on channel 13 LOL, anyway... i put it in *modem mode* & connected my netgear wndr3700 ... christ what a difference, my ping & jitter instantly halved and i now get 100% signal strength all over my house, (the hubs wifi signal range is shockingly poor & the fact it doesnt doesn't do 2.4 / 5ghz simultaneously is a joke /facepalm)

Andrewcrawford23
08-03-2012, 22:48
what do you expet for cheap piece of crap, virign get what thre paying for it which is probally far less that a decent one would be

This is my VMNG300 on 50meg. The connection is actually being used too, can see traffic through tomato of 50Kb/sec. A superhub on this connection would never get below 4ms jitter and the ping would be around 10ms higher. It aint super.

Ignore the packetloss related B*, that's down to me refusing to install Java (anything that has so many security holes it needs patching every other day can GTFO. Especially when every patch tries to install some rubbish browser toolbar.)

I thought it was the ad blocker but turning it off makes no difference.

i noticed in the past when it wouldnt run for me it was my router since it was blocking the pigns or something i remember i had to do changes on teh router and the computer to allow it to run

rofl it says no packet lost but i watched the test it sent 250 an received 248 so the test itself is poor

craigj2k12

it rounds it up obviously, 250 doesnt go into 100

craig have you ever done maths????

248/250 = 0.8% packet lost so rounding up would mean 1% packet lost

craigj2k12
09-03-2012, 18:43
sorry, yeah thats my mistake, its doing computer maths so its rounding down every time no matter what :dunce:

sorry for making you look daft :p which if it rounding down is daft fair enough for 0.4 but 0.8 for anytihng i have been taught engineer wise etc you should round up

craigj2k12
09-03-2012, 18:49
yeah in maths anything 0.5 and above gets rounded up, anything less than 0.5 gets rounded down, but in computers, to do with logic etc it always gets rounded down. Theres easy ways to get it to properly round but obviously ookla haven't bothered

Can't be the router as I can run the packet loss test on my laptop connected through the same router by wireless.

A good thought though. :)
