your dlink router ha nothing to do with your modem, if the rotuer need reboto all the times it might be on it last legs you need to contact dlink to do tests on it

yeah keep an eye on them, if they all come at once (i.e. when you first turn on the modem) then thats fine but if not then that will be causing issues

What's that?

The router is only about 6 months old.

My guess is DIR-615 as that's what used to be supplied as standard with his modem. It's been quite well supported by DD-WRT for a few years.

get in touch with where you got it from for a refund/replacement/upgrade or d link themselves for a refund/replacement/upgrade. complain. try get a replacement thats both mid/top range and is supported by dd wrt.. something versatile.

I have got the E3000 dude (next one above yours) and I know someone who has got the model above mine. I have always used Linksys routers and they have always been top notch. The features and cusomisation are great as is the reliability and performance.

As for your needs Andrew, you can block any internet traffic during certains times the day or make an access list to block a particular device by ip address (if you set static addresses) or mac address. You can block specific urls, protocols, port numbers, applications and all sorts. It is perfect.

All hail Linksys :cleader:

apart from greater wan to lan throughput, the E3000 is dual band and has a usb port on it so you can attach a usb hdd and run it as a media server on the lan or an external ftp server and stuff like that.
