Broadcast: C4 eyes repeats channel launch on Freeview

Not sure if this is in the right section but heard at the weekend that ESPN is free this weekend to all freeview viewers.I believe it starts on friday and ends on monday morning. Hope this is good news for some people.

Guardian: Freeview 'porn' sparks Ofcom action.

Ofcom has complained to the Dutch media regulator about the content of adult chat channels Babestation and Smile TV, which are licensed in the Netherlands but broadcast to millions of Freeview households in the UK overnight and can be easily accessed by children in their bedrooms.

As they`re on late at night children shouldn`t be watching television then. It`s up to parents to see that the television is`nt on in their childs bedroom late at night. If necessary take the fuse out of the plug,it only takes a few seconds. Personally I think the channels are rubish and would prefer more entertaining channels instead. Others will disagree I guess and everyones entitled to their opinions.

Imediamonkey: Channel 4 launching ‘More4+2′ channel.... On Sky and Freeview?

imediamonkey is reporting:

Ahead of 4seven’s launch in a few months time, Channel 4 have announced the launch of More4+2 – a new, time-shift channel for More4.

From April 16th, More4+2 will be available to watch on the Sky platform and Freeview. The EPG channel numbers are yet to be confirmed.

DMOL: Interim Changes to the Adult and Local TV Genres from Monday.

DMOL has today confirmed that from April 16th Adult genre will move into one block on Freeview Channels LCN 91 to 100.

And that Local TV Channel - Channel M will move from Freeview Channel 200 to Freeview Channel 75.

Two new channels launches on Freeview.

TV Stars has launch on Freeview Channel 62.
TV News has relaunch on Freeview Channel 90.

You may have noticed that Freeview are not using Freeview Channel 61 so I think with the new channel stream set to launch after May 1st 2012 Freeview are keeping Channel 61 free for Yesterday +1 to launch on that new stream.

Local TV News: Channel M closed.

Guardian.co.uk is reporting that Manchester local television service Channel M has been shut down after 12 years on air.

Channel M was broadcasting on Freeview Channel 200 but was set to move to Channel 75 today.

-Tonight just after midnight Freeview Viewers in the ITV1 London areas using Crystal Palace Transmitter will lose BBC One, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 from Analogue TV.

-Viewers in the ITV1 London areas using Crystal Palace Transmitter will need to start retuning their Freeview TV Set or Boxes from 6am on Wednesday April 19th.

-You will get 4seven and 302 on your TV Set after you have retune.

Talking about the next EPG Listing on Freeview Channel 47 in Scotland is for April 30th and it says ''12.00-18.00 NEW CHANNEL COMMING SOON.''

Price Drop get extra hours on Freeview.

The Web is reporting that from June 29th Price Drop is broadcasting to until 2am on Freeview Channel 37* on Mux C.

*The extra hours maybe only in the Digital only areas of England, Wales and Scotland.

Q: WHO WILL USE PRICE DROP OLD STREAM ON MUX C (8AM - 12AM) IN DIGITAL ONLY AREAS?
A: Noone knows.

But I think the following may happen.
-Big Deal moves from Mux D to Mux C to broadcast from 8am - 12am.
-That let Yesterday +1 to launch on the 24 hour stream on Mux C.

Before it switches to HDMI for my Tivo, I often see the "new channels available" notification on my TV but it never actually tells me what changes have occurred and I can never spot them. :( Would be nice if it did that :)

DigitalUK: Freeview TV Guide Update.

The Freeview TV guide is being updated on 19 September. As a result, some channel numbers will change. Retune after lunchtime on 19 September to pick up these changes.
This is the first stage of a two stage process.

On Wednesday 19 September 2012 the following changes will take place:

(LCNs = Logical Channel Number)

Text and streamed channels genres will move from the 100s to LCNs 200 to 299
Reserved LCNs for new public service local TV due to launch in 2013.
(LCN 8 in England and Northern Ireland, LCN 45 in Wales and Scotland).
Reserved LCNs 51-53 for TG4, RTÉ 1 and RTÉ 2 in Northern Ireland from digital switchover on 24 October.
Channel moves:
Dave (from 19 to 12)
Really (from 20 to 17)
Yesterday (from 12 to 19)
Gold (from 17 to 20)
Food Network (from 49 to 48)
The Jewellery Channel (from 60 to 49)
Argos TV will launch at LCN 55.

On Wednesday 17 October 2012 the following moves are expected to take place:

Freeview tests appear for Argos TV and Big Deal.

As you may know yesterday saw the launch of 'TBA1' and 'TBA2' launching on Freeview Channels 790 and 791.

On my Freeview EPG listing 'TBA2' are now showing EPG with TellyShopping broadcasting from 3am to 5am - So I think this will be Big Deal.

I also think 'TBA1' is going to become Argos TV.

NOTE to all:
-Al Jazeera Eng is set to become an 24 hour channel from Wednesday on Freeview Channel 83 using Big Deal 24 hour stream.
-Big Deal 24 hour channel on Mux B is set to close at 18.00 on Wednesday night with EPG from 6am on Thursday saying 'Channel no longer broadcasting'.
-Argos TV launches at 18:00 on Wednesday night on Freeview Channel 55 using Al Jazeera Eng old stream.

DMOL: HD & Adult Channels to move on October 17th.

The following is from DMOL:

Previously announced changes to the HD and Adult LCN positions will go ahead on October 17, 2012. HD channels will start at 101 (currently 50); the Adult section will start at 171 (currently 91).

The News genre and Children’s genre moves will occur when the General Entertainment genre nears full capacity (see notes).

Notes

The Children’s and News genres will move to start at LCNs 121 and 131 respectively on the Wednesday that follows 16 weeks after LCN 65 is allocated (ie when the General Entertainment genre nears full capacity). In the event that the move date falls during a change freeze then the move would take effect on the Wednesday that follows the end of the change freeze.

UKTV has confirmed today that it has secured a deal for a fourth DTT channel slot.

Dave Ja Vu will hold Freeview channel 25 for a limited time from January 2013 while UKTV firms up permanent plans for the channel 25 slot.

Guardian.co.uk is reporting:

''Ofcom has delayed a decision on awarding all the remaining local TV licences and now expects to wrap up the process by the end of February, meaning a likely three-month delay for an announcement on the lucrative London franchise. This delay means the local TV licence for the London area, which caters for 4.3 million homes, is expected to be awarded by the end of February. The five London bidders had been told informally by Ofcom to expect a decision in November.

Ofcom said the delay had nothing to do with problems over the Nottingham and Sheffield licences which emerged last week.

This means the Newcastle bid is likely to be decided by the end of December, with Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester by the end of January. The Leeds, Liverpool, London and Preston bids are now scheduled to be awarded by the end of February.''
