Sky v Virgin Cabling

:confused: I am in SW19 and am a VM customer.

We have recently had an extension and complete refurb of our property.

Our electrician has installed Sky cabling internally to connect the 2 rooms where we want TVs.

Is this cabling ok with VM connecting from one point externally to be connected internally to 2 set-top boxes??

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Sky use dual shielded digital coax cable, electricians typically use poor quality digital cable

And vm use high quality tri shielded coax

Vm equivalent cable, actually it exceeds vm spec is Webro hd100 triple copper shielded coax.. It's available on eBay in various lengths

I used B & Q Satellite cable and it all works a treat! Some of the runs are up to 25m and still good. :)

it works yep, but whether or not it is also introducing signal noise on the line without your knowledge is another matter.

which is why I dont advise the use of anything other than VM equivalent cable.

if you use lower grade cable, it may well work but if it creates a problem and VM trace back to you it leaves you liable.

So it is a case of proceed at your own risk... and if VM detect you have tampered on any engineer visit in future you maybe fined or charged for the visit as its hard to prove the problem was not caused by your changes.,
