Decent Wireless N Router?

Could any of you guys suggest a good wireless N router for use with the VMG300?

Since upgrading to 100mb I'd like to upgrade from the DIR-615 im using now!

Something around the 40 quid mark?

I was always under the impression an external antenna would be better?

dont know to be honest dude, I have got the 150N which has got external antennas (and is discontinued). I can use mine anywhere around the house and in the garden no probs.

I understand what you are saying but maybe routers are going the way of mobile phones. Just because my mobile phone hasnt got an external antenna doesnt mean it isnt going to get a signal. I recommend linksys on the fact that it is a solid brand and my previous 2 devices have been excellent.

It must be the way technology is going, non of the new linksys routers, even the top of the range ne has got external antennas. The wrt54g they still do has got external antennas and that is donkeys years old

Dual channel rather that single and not a staggering amount more. Also gigabyte ports rathe than 100Mbps.

As regards external antennas, it depends on the quality of the internal ones which can be just as good.

Lynksys have a good rep.

I normally use Linksys or Buffalo... At the moment I'm using a Netgear WNR 3500U/L It seems to be doing the job well. It's connected to the Superhub.

You've opened a can of worms. Everyone will give their opinion and you'll end up with an endless list!

My take is this.

As you are on 100Mb you need the router to be dual (simultaneous) band capable. Gb ports.

Make your choice from what you know and have experienced.

Getting ready for a hammering from other posters there's nothing wrong with Bullalo, Belkin and lynksys. Some will even tell you Netgear is good tack!

Your choice, your decision. You are the one who will have to use it and live with it.

I used to work for Sky broadband who used Netgear routers and I will be nowhere near them, the superhub is Netgear too which gives me another reason not to!

Im not even sure if my 360, iPhone and mums netbook can run the dual band? Don't know much about it tbh

Netgear WNDR3700 or Linksys/Cisco WRT610N. Both can run DD-WRT very well, with great performance etc.

Personally, I use a WRT320N (pre-rebrand E2000) which is selectable 2.4/5GHz and has gigabit ports, with DD-WRT. I use a WRT160N (E1000) with DD-WRT as a bridge, and it works fine as that and as a router as well.

if you are using N only you dont want dual band dude so get an N router, stick on N only (not mixed mode) and you are sorted

Which "N" banmd do you advocate? 2.4GHz or 5Ghz? (think about it before you reply:D),
