Hi

Quick question, I currently have 50MB modem + D-Link router supplied by Virgin. I have placed an upgrade to 100MB, will the engineer take the current modem and router? I've flashed the D-Link with DDWRT so should I flash it back?

With the Superhub can I still connect wireless access points, seems a lot of people are having trouble with it so wasn't sure what works with it and not!

Thanks very much :D

They'll probably take the modem back, but not the router

Thanks Ben, some people have been successful in keeping their existing modem with 100mb, hoping the installer might do the same for me!

I am on the 50meg service and recently got the Superhub (at my own request) to replace the originally supplied 50meg modem and the Superhub was posted out to me and VM did not ask for the old modem to be returned so i still have it.

Why? They cant re-issue them and they dont get refurbished.

Surely selling any VM equipment on ebay is illegal as it is not the property of the user.

You tell me, when we get customers calling in after a manned install because they have upgraded and we find that we need to update the Atheros wireless card and we ask them to connect via ethernet they say that the engineer took the router and ethernet cable, we then have to credit them to buy a cable from ASDA or Tessco.

That applies to modems and set top boxes but you can be left with a router which anyone can use.

Just look on Ebay for D Link DIRR615 routers.

No point buying used VMNG300s on eBay - they're registered to some previous customer and will not be added to a new customers account.

You know, the VMNG300 is 100Mb capable so if you're happy with your current setup I'd keep it. Subjectively, I'd HIGHLY recommend you keep it as the superhub has been lacklustre for a number of people.

You forgot to read all the posts as it is the D Link DIR615 that we are talking about here.

I knew what you meant hence my post as they would not work and are usually an expensive paperweight.;)

I didn't forget anything, thanks. It's good general advice: used modems that were formerly registered to someone else aren't allowed on the network. As you've said the same yourself you already know this. Any excuse to take a shot though, eh? ;)

Actualy the WEEE guidelines state that I have to take a router, sky box, feeview box etc etc if the customer asks me to, to send for recycling, in those circumstances i'd happily recycle by selling them on ebay :)

No shot taken just used your post to emphasise a point nothing more.

If i where to upgrade to 100mg , i have a 50mg super hub would they take that away and replace it with a 100 mg one , also save me starting a new
thread while i am online , can you tell me if the upgrade can be done online
/phone . or would i still need a vist

A Superhub is a Superhub and they should not replace your existing one as the is no difference.

The process for 100Mb insists on a manned installation.

Will be quickest install ever, if your signals are spot on he will just close the job which will send the hit to the modem
