Hi All

VM isntalled the superhub today and all works well with the LAN to the pc.

However, wireless is a bit of a problem. The engineer was quick to plug in and leave with no idea if the wireless was working! SHOCKING!!!!!

Is there a basic set up page to get me started?

TIA

you can use the default settings, the wireless SSID (network name) and the WEP key (the password) are on the label on the back of the superhub.

if you want to change the default settings then (when your connected via ethernet cable) go to http://192.168.0.1/ and click the left button for wireless settings, here you can change the network name and password

I try not to get involved with wifi either, usually an update of the wifi card driver fixes connections with the superhub

TBH, if engineers had to ensure wifi was working with all Superhub installs they would be there all day. Not just because of the well trumpeted issues with the hub itself, but because of how irritatingly inconsistent every setup and location can be when it comes to wireless.

What would be a good idea is if engineers left a nice "cheat sheet" behind with quick advice on how to fiddle with the device to get the best performance. Simply setting the wireless to 145 meg seems to fix a lot of problems with the hub.

Or just give us a piece of kit that works! The dlink 615 was amazing, 1min setting up and always top wifi speed

^I'd kill for a setup like that, but a mid-poor TBB graph won't really cut it will it.

TBB graph results have nothing to do with a wireless connection.

And Yes JB the D-Link was far superior to the superdud.

How do I put the Dynamic DNS in the superhub?

I use that for remote access to security cameras.

there is currently no support for dynamic dns on the superhub. this will be released in a later firmware update

Yikes! So how am I going to view my wireless cameras remotely?

I use eyespy247 wireless cameras that were set up nicely using the dlink615, omg I think I better tell VM they can take this superhub back if I can not access the cameras! :(

So why did you get one installed? Did you upgrade or have a problem with your modem?

riccojames
12-04-2011, 19:07
I upgraded to give unlimited access without restrictions to my webcameras!!

I can not even work out how to use the DLINK DIR615 as an access point, if that could still use DDNS.

Few more days of trying to get a work around then I will be telling them to pick this piece of $h!t up and give me the old modem back. :td:

Just remembered, whats with the very bright blue light that flashes :td: I thought the cops were parked outside our house last night for two hours, then I just had to unplug the friggin thing. :omg:

I will try that tmrw, thanks Masque.

My PS3 keeps disconnecting from the EA-Autolog servers now, this NEVER happened prior to the 'superhub' install. The PS3 is LAN connected FFS!

My wireless IP camera's are frustratingly slow accessing the admin pages, and sometimes do not load properly...there are no faults with the cameras as the settings on them have not changed.

I also noticed that the general internet browsing was considerably slower after 5pm this evening, again sure this was not the case prior to the 'superhub'!

This is a pathectic, to call it a 'superhub' is a disgrace!

Im just remembering that I was also told it connected to the TV, Phone & broadband being a 'superhub'. Crud, its just an all in one modem/router thats intermittent to say the least. Certainly does not connect to the phone or the TV, argh the lies I was told on the phone call.

2 days off completely WASTED! Thanks a friggin bunch VM.

Thanks to those who have replied to my needs so far, mucho appreciated.

:help:After calling the 'super support' last night and eventually telling them to leave a msg for the customer services.... 'PICK IT ALL UP' and cancel my account with 30 days notice!!! :omg: what a complete waste of 2 hrs on the phone in total.

This morning my 'PooPhub' was off line, so I switched it off and on again.

Tonight my 'PooPhub' was off line, so I switched it off and on again.

How am I supposed to use the broadband connection for security cameras if they can not get a connnection?!?!? :(

Can someone tell me what this means...

In the mean time, to cut the details short.... can they give me a router & modem instead? Customer services said yes and put me through to IT support who wasted my time for an hour and said "NO" because only the 20MB connection can use a normal modem and router!

I know thats utter [Mod Edit] as my brother who lives 4 doors away is on the modem and router set up already which was installed months ago.

There was a standalone modem which could deliver 30 or 50meg but sadly its been discontinued.

riccojames, you have been requested before not to try to get round the swear filter.

One more attempt will incur infractions.

craigj2k12
18-04-2011, 15:59
you could try going back to 20meg, i doubt they would let you though

riccojames
18-04-2011, 19:07
Yikes, after calling them today I find I can not cancel my account with 28 days notice.

When I originally spoke to them about changing to the 30meg connection, which resulted in me giving in to 50meg and upgrading my TV box in another room to VBox (HD) and upgrading to a higher tv package, they activated the TV package.

Now they say as a result I can not cancel any of the services or I will have to pay a fee! Heck, thats a con. I did not get the extra HD box installed until last week which was the same time as the 'superhub', but as the other room could have used the upgraded tv package I can not cancel any of the services!

Im expected to take another day off work (3rd day in total) to get the service downgraded to the 20meg I had. Thats the best solution they can come up with!! :td:

NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Im will write to them and complain, also watch dog, The ferret and who ever else takes an interest.

Im mad to say the least, what would you all suggest?

Try talking to retentions, and discuss the issue - if they cannot resolve it, ask to be contacted by the CEO's office, and see what happens then.

Get in touch with the CEO's office, they might have an odd VMNG300 modem left. I know someone who got one a couple of days ago.

ARRRGGHHH!!!!!!!!

I still can not get the 'SUPERHUB' to give me any kind of consistant connection to my IP cameras, eyespy247PTZ or eyespy247F+

They both are laggy once they are on the local wireless connection yet are 100% ok on the wired connection. Im guessing there must be a restriction of some kind on the VM superhub wifi side causing this?!

Can anyone shed any light on this please!?!?!?

TIA

check what wireless channel your using, and what others are using around you, as these can cause interference, your best changing it to a channel that isnt used within range of the hub or the cameras for best results.

apart from that, we all know the superhub is a pile of donkey spunk, but you will have to live with it
