Try disabling Ip flood protection. It can be located by going to http://192.168.0.1 and enter your username and password. (admin, changeme )
Then click on services and disable the Firewall and IP flood detection.
Please let us know how you get on with this.

Something wrong here, could be congestion on vm network.

i know the engineer who installed the broadband said something about i am on a block of 6 taps that is installed of one tap. could that be the prob

Nah it's not a physical issue, your signals are good snr phenominal

craigj2k12
04-04-2011, 21:19
do you have any attenuators or equalisers on the back of the modem?

if your tap is split to 6, then thats the problem!

don't know, all i know the wire come in from the brown box (outside wall) into the modem

No ex telewest uses 6 port taps, your thinking of a 6 way splitter. It's not a physical issue it's a 'virtual one'

I could split the signal 10 times, as long as upstream and downstream is good it doesn't matter

he did use the word taps (mind you he was brought down here for 2weeks to help out, he comes from the west someware

lol good one, well he couldn't get the phone working something about vm forgot to port the number over, so he just brought the wires into the house and left them, not conected to anything this end

jb66
04-04-2011, 21:46
He still should have fitted a master and gave you a temp number!

data0002
04-04-2011, 21:49
nope he just left it and said someone will be back when the number has been ported to finish off, mind you he did say just conect the two wires to the bt line if i wanted to do it, but i forgot i have an bt adsl face plate

jb66
04-04-2011, 22:03
No one will come back, you will stop getting incoming calls from bt and then you'll have to call up to get a master socket. That's if the port really has been actioned

data0002
04-04-2011, 22:06
bt has cut off phone (did it Friday), i have phoned vm the same day and they said someone should be out by weds if not i will be back on the phone to them again

pip08456
04-04-2011, 22:08
I'd ring up and check and ask for a decent tech to come out and fit the master socket. Leaving a job like that is inexcusable and gets other techs a bad name.

I know but i will wait untill weds it's only 48hrs away plus it's been nice and quite here without the phone, lol

Probably the installer wouldn't get paid for the telco so decided to leave it. If the call centet gave you a date (not the installer) it looks like they split the job in two

data0002
04-04-2011, 22:21
no vm told me install date was 31th but forgot to get the port going it wasn't untill the installer turned up that they got the ball rolling
