I was wondering if virgin media or anyone has created a program to display network usage between the throttling times? It would be useful so i could check around 3PM & 8PM to see if I'm near to being throttled.

Something similar to this;

[Select package - 10MB L] Current time : 19:57

Download
10AM - 3:59PM 2400mb/3000mb
4PM - 21:00PM 1200mb/1500mb - Active

Upload
10AM - 3:59PM NA/NA
4PM - 21:00PM 300mb/800mb - Active

Not yet! However if you are using a p2p client such as uTorrent you can schedule your download speeds to reduce within the throttling period so you don't get STM'd.

With the recent agreement to be much more open with traffic management, one would hope VM would get off their backside and finally provide a way to see your usage. The superhubs half arsed attempt is a bit of a joke, what with it being able to count up to just 3gb before going wonky....

What do you expect from a half arsed piece of equipment?

But it is so shiny!

Then again, so is the VMNG300. At least that thing can count.

it doesnt need to count, because it wont die after 3gb!

I use Networx (freeware) to monitor usage. Excellent.

DU Meter is pretty good, and the ThinkBroadband meter is effective as well. Horses for courses really...

All the software based ones have one crippling factor: They just monitor a single PC's usage. If you have multiple PC's then you need to install them on all and total the numbers up. If you have other devices you are sol. If you are on the superhub that is.

If you have a router, more and more manufacturers are adding bandwidth monitors in. If you can install Tomato or DD-WRT on it then even better.

if you are really bothered, then you will need to set up a proxy server which counts usage, and run all your devices though that. what I would do is just carry on and get throttled, who cares? you do all your downloading during the peak period 5-midnight, then when your throttled, go to bed!

I use Networx personally, I can link all up other Windows PCs but that's it.
No PS3s, iPHones, nothing.

If you have a spare router that can use DD-WRT, you'll have to wait for modem mode I suppose.
