Poor Speed.

I'm in Cardiff and had 50Mbps installed by engineer last saturday (19.03.2011) whereby I was getting full speed from my connection and was really impressed.

Now, less than 1 week later my upload is still 5Mbps (no complaints) but my download is stuck around 10Mbps, sometimes a shy more.

I've rebooted the superhub, disconnected all devices - nothing else is "stealing" bandwidth.

My laptop is more than capable of 50Mbps through its LAN port, this is a typical test:

I've even tested on the virgin media test site where you can select 1,10,100,500mb tests all report circa 10Mbps speeds, if lucky 15Mbps.

My 20Mbps connection was faster.

Do my levels look ok? Guess I need to call tech support. :mad:

have you disabled the firelwall and ip flood detection? Your power levels look alright so i cant see where the problem is.

And full speed again. Traffic shaping causing me issues? I don't download that much, I wanted the 50Mbp package so when I do download stuff (mainly from licensing.microsoft.com for ISO images of microsoft packages). I want it to be quick.

I'm not convinced either way at the minute.

post 20 pings to bbc.co.uk please whilst your connection is idle and do it after 6pm or at least when your speeds are low.

it could well be congestion. traffic shaping shouldnt affect speedtest.net

tbh you have come into things a bit late. Up and till recently 50mbit wasnt throttled at all. It still isnt subject to stm like other tiers are however they have recently introduce protocol shaping which thottles the throughput of p2p protocols during peak hours, but it should only affect stuff like torrents and news groups
