For months now there has been a problem with time-outs and very slow web site browsing, also when the computer is first tuned on and logged onto xp it can take 10 minutes to establish a connection. Since it takes so long to acquire a network address - a problem with communication to virgin media's dhcp server?
I have switched to opendns and used the TCPOptimizer, however the situation doesn't seem to have improved any.
When I accessed the cable modem configuration, the pages loaded slowly and even timed out on occasion. Could this mean there could be a problem with my set-up?
I am on the 20mbit service. I get appropriate download speeds on newsgroups, but seemingly a dial up service for web browsing.
