Having finally managed to connect to the internet via VM cable broadband, I went to do the activation thing, and set up an email address. All goes fine until the modem reboot, which has failed twice, and the power-off solution solved nothing.

Any way around this without spending tomorrow on the helpline ?

Depending on your area, you need to call 08000731685 (EX NTL) or 08009539500 (EX TeleWest).

Normally goes through to Liverpool Or Swansea and they activated the whole thing for me remotely.
