routing channels to another room

I have been with virgin for a number of years and signed up to the XL package and a V+ box.
I was told i could use my old Samsung (with card) upstairs. Is this possible, will the old card still be active and allow passage of channels from downstairs?

Your old box will have its own separate connection to the cable network and will be able to view all the channels for which you are paying. This, of course, is assuming you are paying the £5 per month charge for a second box.
