Hey guys,

We had a tech around for the 50mb upgrade a week back but I've noticed varying download speeds. I get erratic speeds from Giganews at times varying from 5.9 MB/s to 1~ MB/s then back to optimum. I'm just testing again with two simultaneous Linux distros on download from the blueyonder FTP site. One download sustains around 2.5 MB/s whilst the other varies from anywhere up to 3.1 MB/s to 500 KB/s.

The new and old modem pages are quite different so I think I'm reading the upload power level at 57 which does seem to be hitting the upper limit, I remember it was around the 39 level with the old Ambit modem. Here are the downstream/upstream shots from the modem page as well as the event log. Any advice is appreciated.

Exactly as you suggested your upstream transmit power is too high and you need an engineer visit to remedy this.

EDIT: There may also be an area fault however, your upstream modulation is QPSK which isn't normal for the 50Mbit service. I hope it's an area fault anyway as it does look rather silly if it's intentional configuration. That said if it were the normal 16QAM you'd not be online at all.

I would imagine it's an area issue and your local network guys should be dealing with it but definitely call in.
