high ping, ok bandwidth

so i've been on virgin for a few weeks, and all is fine, once you get past the throttling at peak times.
but randomly this afternoon, my ping went through the roof! like 5-10k ms...

speedtest.net provided these stats:
4k ping
2mb/s down
0.01mb/s up (!!!)

when i checked the router, it said:
Error (4) ToD request sent- No Response received

Massivly confused by this. can anyone shed any light on it?

after having this problem for a few hours, it has suddenly fixed itself.
F'ing typical.

I would guess you or someone on your network was hammering your upstream bandwidth. The error message you give doesn't indicate an issue.

Sounds like traffic management if you are on 10Mb
