View Full Version : New install BB and cannot login to Netgear WGR614v9

Hi. Been a lurker, but now I've needed to sign up as i have a bit of a problem.

Had cable bb 10MB installed this morning, and all works well, except for one aspect.

I've connected up the modem with the supplied router, with my PC wired to the router. However I am not able to log in to the router settings page using 192.168.1.1 or any of the other methods. When i first tried it came up with a page to name the wireless network and set up a password, as well as set the router password. On clicking apply it tried to go to www.routerlogin.com/telewest.cgi, however that just bought up a blank page.

Since then whenever i attempt to go to 192.168.1.1, and as you'd expect it brings up the screen asking for the router username and password. However i then type in the routers default details (admin, password) but the router refuses to accept them. I aslo tried the password i set for the router, but this still doesn't work.

I've tried a hard reset of the router but all to no avail.

Can anyone help?

Worry not everyone, problem has been solved.

In picking up the router and considering murdering it, i read the back and realised the username i needed to use was virgin. Pesky thing.

yes it has Virgin firmware so requires their username to login to it.
