I've a sony CRT tv, with built in freeview.(kd32dx150u)

It is listed here, http://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview/content/download/2696/15802/file/Split%20Nit%20Product%20List%20&%20Contacts.pdf

as one of the products being affected by the change on the 30th - but I don't know what's going to happen with it - will I lose channels?

I'm going to phone sony tomorrow to see, but wondered if anyone here knew.

I expect I know what the answer is, so can someone recommend a good <£100 set top box.

The reasons for the need to re-tune are listed here (http://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview/Resolutions/About-Channels/Retuning/Freeview-national-retune-30-September-2009)

The main points are that more people will be able to get Channel 5, there will be a new channel called Quest and some programs will change channel location.

I don't think they are expecting anything catastrophic to happen this time it will just be a case of following the instructions in your user manual some time after lunch on the 30th.

Sorry Mr LM I wasn't concentrating when I gave the above reply. My CRT TV updates happily so didn't realise some would have problems. Good luck when you phone tomorrow.

yeah, that I know, but also the bbc channels will move to 800+ - however, my tv can no longer retune.... which is common problem it seems

I've just checked for ours on your list and we may be OK. It's just one I use in my work room so if it dies I'll just get one of the 29.99 scart style Freeview receivers. Hopefully our main set will be OK.

You will only be affected, according to the list, if your TV has missed the latest over-the-air update from Sony. So you may be OK.

not sure how you come to that conclusion?

Your TV is listed under "Products that have not received an OAD freeze when receiving the first multiplex."

OAD stands for over-the-air download (or update).
