My wife (It's her account) has upped us from 10 to 20meg on Monday this week. We have received our new modem (same model as the old one) so I haven't changed it.
I can see no change in speed during normal use how can I check if what I'm getting is correct?
Should I be getting a free router as well?

Looks like you're still on 10mb - try calling VM?

On your modem check the operational config page should give you the up/down datarate (might be on other pages for older modems)

Or log into My Virgin Media - it should tell you there as well

If you have a VM phone keep calling 151 until you hear a Scots, Welsh or Liverpudlian accent.

If you have a VM phone keep calling 151 until you hear a Scots, Welsh or Liverpudlian accent.

If the upgrade has been added to the account support will just redirect him to customer services whih is 150, give em a call between 8am-5pm on 150 and just ask them if the upgrade has been done if it has you need tech support on 151 again try and call between 8am-5pm, if the upgrade has been done then you need to get your wife to call again.

If the upgrade has been added then a good support agent will hit the modem and check to see if he now shows as being a 20Mbit subscriber and if not the interface should be checked for line runner errors. If any line runner errors are found or not the the good agent should then contact their 2nd line support.

I'm up and running now.
Apparently the mac address was wrong?

Thanks to everybody who took the time to reply

Presumably the 20Mbit service was tied to the MAC address of the new modem they sent you. They had to authorise your old modem to work with the upgraded service.

At a guess.

:S lol could be a good guess considering when I upped to 20mb They didnt send me jack and It ran straight off my Modem at the time So yeah instead of sending me a new one they just tied it Like you said
