Newsgroups?

On this forum and many other I read alot of people talking about newsgroups. I'm a complete noob at this but I'm wondering what they are and how can I get on them, cause in one of the threads I read about some guy d/l a film of newsgroups.

If you are a virgin media customer then they do have some of the usenet groups available for 'free'

the 'pay for' services usually carry more groups & keep the posts for longer, though.

You should research 'nzb files' and how indexes can be used with newsgroup clients like altbinz, the use of 'par2 files', & have a decent archive unpacker such as 7zip or winrar to fully use usenet/newsgroups ...

Nah done right it could be quite exciting.

It could be about a man trying to download the secret code to disable a nuclear device from alt.b.p.e hidden in a jpg. Unfortunately the jpg is part of a large series in a RAR and the last part is incomplete. He disparately tries to find out if it's just the server he's on or the fault of the uploader.

As usual it's against the clock. Just as he finds a another archive containing the file, he's throttled to 25% normal speed and has to wait a further hour for the download to complete.

Then you see beads of sweat on his forehead as he watches quickpar rebuild his corrupt file.

At last it's rebuilt and he uncompresses it, only to find it's a photo of a person with both sets of reproductive organs and the code is not there.

I can see Brat Pitt in the lead roll and Jessica Simpson as "Judy" the CSR from Bangalore who tried to upgrade his BB.
